I have absolutely zero use or tolerance for rap or hip-hop. If it ceased to exist I wouldn't notice nor care.

yeah GP you just killed all my enjoyment in making my own music and writing songs
i cant stop crying
no honestly, your probally the only dude who likes rap so its ironic. The one guy on the dune forum who likes rap would not even want to listen to one of my songs, safe to say this will be the last time I mention it at all... was a bad idea in the first place.
SandChigger would destroy my will to exist.

I guess you've figured us out; us rap fans are all heartless, evil bastards. We also killed Kenny and elected Bush.

Did you offer? I thought you asked if we consider rap to be music. You have to ask the right question to get the answer you want to hear.SwordMaster wrote:yeah GP you just killed all my enjoyment in making my own music and writing songs

Music is like art and beauty; it's all in the eye (or ear) of the beholder(listener).
And with that said. This 'rap' I can handle.

Some of my favorite vocalists are atists or in bands that I don't necessarily dig. Annie Lenox and Morrissey come to mind. But this guy, I dig. Sadly I can't say I sympathize much. Still, fucking good tunes, in a Floyd-esque depressing sort of way.

Re: The Music Suggestion Thread
This is not a band I like, but since BB is a Muse fan, he (and any other Muse fans) should like these guys:
Tyrant (by The Bravery, 2005)
You Got Me (by The Roots feat. Erykah Badu, 1999)

Hmmm. Try this instead and see what you think:Eyes High wrote:Music is like art and beauty; it's all in the eye (or ear) of the beholder(listener).

Edit: I also liked the songs suggested above: 'How Bizare' and 'Believe.' I'm still trying to decide on 'Body of Years.' I had heard Bizare before but thought it had another title. Thanks everyone for all the suggestions.

It's okay, but I'm not a fan of The Bravery. I just saw you posting a bunch of Muse stuff and figured most Muse fans would like The Bravery.Baraka Bryan wrote:ya the bravery is pretty good.
here's one of their songs I was hooked on a while back.
Believe
and another song I'm hooked on right now:
Mother Mother - Body of Years
unfortunately only live versions available on youtube
Never heard of Mother Mother. Listened to it a few times and it's okay.
Well, it's the suggestion thread so it's all about us trying new stuff. Some will hit, some won't. But they're all worth a shot.Eyes High wrote:Not bad. And I checked out some more of her stuff. I think I could listen to that. Thanks.

"How Bizarre" is a one-hit-wonder from the 90s. It's just a song I kinda think about whenever I see some really weird act

clearlyBaraka Bryan wrote:yeah it took me a few listens to get used to the Mother Mother stuff. I think they're pretty good, but that live version doesn't do it justice. should be able to download it by now, but I had to use audacity and get a streaming version off edge.ca for the first half, and jumped in with recording the radio when it came on then spliced the two together right as the vocals came in so you couldn't tell it was 2 files.... ya i get bored at work
Anyone like Damian Marley?

Re: The Music Suggestion Thread
He's actually not that bad, which is fair praise considering he's Marley's son. Everyone expected him to be utter crap, but some of his songs have a legitimate spark to them. I also appreciate that he sounds nothing like his father and is clearly making his own sound and style.
