Hey, all. I think I found a way to improve site latency, especially in searches. I am now zipping up the older log data for all the sites hosted on the server. The disk they were stored on was at 95% capacity, and zipping up the older ones dropped it to 20. The server uses this same disk to store scratch/temp data for searches on jacurutu and tau, so hopefully this will make them speedier.
Let me know if you notice any improvement or impairment of latency in any of the site's functions.
Thanks!

first minutes at work I read "Did you reindeer the thing ?"Omphalos wrote:Did you reindex the thing?
Which even though funny didn't make any sense.
But I thought I'd share !
And thanks Ragabash, I'll give it a try and let you know if I notice any difference.
(I didn't really use the Search that much before though)

That ought to help a lot....storage is always the principal bottleneck on any machine, and how full a HDD is can make a huge difference in performance (particularly latency/seek times).
