All this talk of ebonics make me think of our own home-grown variety, Jafaican. Apparently it's going to be the most common accent in London soon!

I was just looking through that second article feeling all superior until I realised I use some of those words!

Oh, and the article says "nang" is from Ozzie slang. But this is what the Urban dictionary says, and I've heard this story too.

The word originated in Hackney, London. Specifically Kingsland Secondary School (now sadly gone).
The word is a direct product of one Nang Phan, an ex-student of KS. It came about through boys in years above her chiding "ahh, Nang you're nang". It caught on like wildfire from there.
