Part of the issue for the "KJA haters" is how the new authors seemed to have sidelined poor old Dr McNelly. FH could respond to McNelly's work and he can't to the new stuff. So for FH's approval of the new books, we'll have to take the publisher's word for it, for now at least.

A very minor point.

What bothers some is how the HLP renounce the DE yet the new authors seems to have "borrowed" some ideas from it.

But I think this is very low on a very long list of reasons.

So OHers dislike KJH because they've mistreated McNelly. I never knew they had really but don't doubt it.

After a lot of head scratching; I make a guess about SODs reasoning, first, like any preeq, we aren't capible of thinking for ourselves and have chosen to follow FH. To me this represents a rare peek into how a preeq mind works, their world veiw is that of sheep following various sheperds, all sub consiously- no preeq would admit to it. What makes this interesting is that he assumes that our shepherd wouldn't approve of mcDune. Second, perhaps the SOD intends to take the sting out of OH reasoning by making us understand KJH is only acting out of jealosy and therefore can't be blamed? Sounds goofy to me too but show me where i'm wrong.

This sentance would seem to support either supposition, it's anyones guess what SOD really meant.

In the spirit of giving credit where it's due, this is an above avarege preeq. He uses complete sentances and decent paragraph structure. Mysterious as it is, he has a thought and presents it consistantly in his para. Give him a few years and he might just be a convert.

Sorry, brainfart here; I didn't go back and reread the context, thought you were asking about something in the book Sandworms (SoD).

I really haven't paid enough attention to Sparrow's comments (other than to tell they're annoying ) to feel capable of saying what he thinks. (I did pop over to FED2k last night and respond to his comment on a thread about what happened to Salusa Secundus, in which he was citing The Dune Encyclopedia in a way that made me think he thinks it's somehow relevant. If that helps. )
