New Dune fan arriving March 11th, 2011
Long time, no post. Went and got hitched and just found out my swimmers are strong as ever. Gonna be 45 years old when the new Dune fan hatches. Am I nuts? Oh hell yes. Already have an 11 and 14 year old - that path done grew over. Should be an adventure though!

I wonder how Dune will be received by future generations... I hope your kids love it as much as we do!

Congrats Spice. How do your children feel about the soon-to-be new addition?
Oh don't feel too bad. Got a friend whose first son was 19 when her second son was born.

I would imagine it'd be about the same, since it's already in its "future generations". It'll probably eventually fade until it's only a "classic" that people read like Tolstoi, more because they're told to than because they actually want to (not that he isn't good). That'll probably take a good many generations though.Redstar wrote:I wonder how Dune will be received by future generations... I hope your kids love it as much as we do!

I was looking at it more like how Dune will be perceived when religions clash and join and new philosophies emerge. After I posted I realized Dune isn't that special since every science fiction is a little prophetic, but I'd I'm still curious how Dune compares to our future religions.A Thing of Eternity wrote:I would imagine it'd be about the same, since it's already in its "future generations". Ah, I see your point, I imagine it'll be interesting. We'll sure as hell never see Buddhislam though, that was a funny one.

congrats man

Do not be quick to reveal judgment. Hidden judgment is often more potent. It can guide reaction whose effects are felt only when too late to divert them.
