I use "view posts since last visit" too.Spicelon wrote:How in the hell do you open 18 tabs for just one board!? Did you have to do it manually?SandChigger wrote:I opened 18 when I came on. No probs here.
On a related note, how do most of you view the board? Personally I have the "View latest posts since last visit" bookmarked and go right to that and just keep refreshing. The only time I actually ever see the Forum Index is if I create a post. There have been times at Haven that I didn't even know the Forums had be reorganized and renamed because it had been so long since I actually viewed the Forum Index. So does anyone else do this? Or do you go right to the Index and look to see which forums have had action?

Me too. I open up one window and click "new posts" to see what is new. If I dont post in a thread, I just back up to the matrix page. If I do, then I hit the banner up top and click "new posts" again.Spicelon wrote:How in the hell do you open 18 tabs for just one board!? What's the source of confusion here, peeps?
I log in, click "View posts since last visit" and then right-click (in Safari) on the thread header or last-page-in-thread links and "Open Link in New Tab" for all the search results that I'm interested in. Boom boom boom. Then I read the latest posts, Back up to read the previous page if it's been really active, and then either reply or close the tab and read the next.
Is this not what tabbed viewing was invented for?

Well yeah, that works in Firefox too. I just wouldn't do it 18 times.SandChigger wrote:What's the source of confusion here, peeps?

Both this site and T(A)U are being hit very hard today by spammers. If you have trouble accessing today, that is why. The last time I checked T(A)U was not even available any more. Ragabash has done an entire system reset more than once today already. I think they should be gone now, but more as this develops.

I've had major problems all day; that explains it.Omphalos wrote:Both this site and T(A)U are being hit very hard today by spammers. If you have trouble accessing today, that is why. I thought it was just my end that was causing a bit of a slowdown, but seems OK to me on other places, so I guess it is those spammers you mentioned, Omph.
Are they trying to hack, post spam...what?

What browser are you using?bryanvdk wrote:i had a really annoying glitch earlier today. everytime I opened threads and was reading at the bottom of the conversation, my browser would randomly jump halfway up the page. i'd move it down and have about 5 seconds befor it jumped up again.
WTF?!?!?!
That sounds a lot like the code someone hacked into my site a few weeks back. On the Mac, it only affected Firefox, and made the screen jump down to the bottom of the page. Since I usually use Safari now, I didn't notice it until Omph alerted me to it. I accessed the files and found where all the index files had had some javascript code edited into them. I changed all my passwords and replaced the affected files with the latest versions from my disks and everything has been fine since. (AFAIK)
It was really clever how they did it. They just slipped one file into my directories and then accessed it using a regular browser. I found where they'd done it in the access logs, deleted the alien file and then just went down the list of files they'd infected.
They didn't create any new accounts or try to lock me out, was the main good thing about the whole experience.
Some people obviously have too much time on their hands and too little to occupy themselves with.

I'm not the one accusing others of wasting their time on stupid things.
Accusing everyone for doing stupid thing is another matter.
