[A Little Galach]

Hello all. I made my first post 12 hours ago or so and have been informed I need to introduce myself.

I was introduced to Dune through my Dad who is a prolific reader and had read all of the real books. I watched the Lynch movie with my Dad before I read the book, and while it was a bad movie I still like it for the sets, casting and score. I read the first two and followed my Dad's advice and didn't bother with the last 4. "They keep bringing back Duncan and it gets ridiculous." That was when I was in HS or college.

A few years ago I read all of the original books and was very pleased, moreso with the last two than 2-4. I liked Miles and Duncan, seeing the results of the scattering and the BG start to kick some ass against the HM's. After the cliffhanger ending I was happy to pick up the sequels. They smelled a bit to me but I liked the closure...even if it was corny and kewl. I always thouight to myself that they were just following Frank's notes so I should go with it. In retrospect they were written more to sell the prequels than satisfy fans like me (us). I mean did FH really envision Scytale bringing back Xavier?

I read 5 of the 6 prequels and after that I felt icky. After skipping the 6th and reading Dune again I was pretty angry at the liberties they took. I ran into this place and here I am.

I am 32, live in the Chicago area and have three little girls. I like sports, vaginas, good SF and long walks on the beach.

I have two issues with KJA: He has raped the corpse of FH without exhuming his body and he is not a good or thoughtful writer. His characters are shallow and his thinking is overtly one dimensional. L Ron Hubbard wasn't real deep or overboard with descriptions in his stories and they plowed through plot and action quickly but his worlds were very dynamic, I think you could say the same for Asimov. KJA flies through predictable plots with boring characters, without any imagination and gives little thought to the universe in which they exist. In short he's the opposite of FH and seems to write for the sake of churning out books rather than being an artist.

the good thing(and that's the only one)of those ramblings is that they are so much without the slightest hint of density that you kinda forget them easily(combined with heavy drinking and/or mind altering drugs)everyone has a chance for a fresh start

Yeah, I tend to have some sort of optically distortive effect on most people, but it's usually due to rolling eyes. Crossed eyes may be a new one!

"Galach" can mean all of those things. Plus it's used as a surname.
