Greetings From Joburg
Hi there.
I've finally managed to register, after trying for a good 3 weeks. I must really want to be a member here!
(My main email address seems to have been the problem, so I switched to my hotmail address)
I'm Terri, from Johannesburg South Africa, aka Aquila ka Hecate, and I've been reading Dune since about 1973 or so.
I re-read Frank's original stuff every few months.
I once tried to read a 'prequel' - Hunters of Dune - and it was so bland, low-level and frankly uninvolving that I've never touched one since.
I love what I see on this board!

Thank you all most kindly.
But that's not so surprising, given the years in which the Dune works were originally published.
I often try to interest younger generations in the Duniverse, with mixed success. I find that the more intelligent the youngster, the more likely it is that he or she will read ans appreciate. Says something.

Hey, also not surprising. Although let it be noted that I'm a 'colonial' African - I was born here, but my roots are in Europe, and I was brought up in both the USA and England.Ampoliros wrote:... Doesn't Africa mean we now have OH on every continent except Antarctica?

Welcome on board mate.
These guys and gals sure know their Dune.
Looking forward to getting to know you better.
And SR, I'm not for sure but I think those born between '66 and '80 are X-ers. ( or is that between 66 and 75?)
I have no ideal what this new generation is called.
The older X-ers rule

welcome mate!
Do not be quick to reveal judgment. Hidden judgment is often more potent. It can guide reaction whose effects are felt only when too late to divert them.

Re: Greetings From Joburg
As far as Boomers (US Census Born 1943-1964) Ill give ya DUNE(1965) and DM (1969), bit of a stretch on COD (1977). I was born in 1967 (Tweeners I believe some call us, I call it no mans land) and The second half of of the Dune was published (along with the lynch movie 1984) squarely in my middle and upper teens. GOD (1981), HOD(1984), CHoD (1985). All in good fun, we 3-4 decaded folks have a goodly stake in FH Legacy.Aquila ka-Hecate wrote:Thank you all most kindly.

We could get Antarctica, if someone could get an address to McMurdo Naval Base, be happy to ship them a set of the originals to get Jacurutu on all continents, hell would be fun. I don't know any squids so leave it up to other folks.
