Yep. Why do they keep males around? I have a guess but...
No, if I take anything to it's conclusion I bet I somehow end up being a Nazi, something will somehow lead to it.
The whole question is: Why is Clairby so god damned important, as a driver(ok, pilot too), that they'll make a cyborg out of him against all their beliefs?
Are they having a car race that they need him for? Is driving so difficult in the Duniverse?
And they need non-initiates/non-BG staff to bulk up their numbers.
Initiates are females only, and only ones that have been deemed good enough to perhaps become future RMs.
It's very nice to have the cream of the top, but it also means they lack such things as hordes of low key technicians, workers and even army grunts.
You don't throw a battallion made up of RMs that have been trained for years upon years and could serve at better things. For that you have poor Joe Shmoe with his knife and lasgun.
But to make a cyborg in a post BJ universe...that's very urgent indeed.
Maybe this should be transfered to the BG forum already.

In memory of Perach, who suffered and died needlessly.

I don't think it was against their beliefs since they were prepared to do it before the fact. It's not as if they had to research lost technology, they were ready. The BG never really subscribed to the proscriptions of the BJ.

then why is Odrade so reluctant to do so? Her doubts seem to indicate they're not completely removed from the BJ's effects, even on something I personally see no connection to AI like cyborgs.
It's not like they're robots with some human flesh, they're humans with artificial body parts to support them.
Though I do understand the shock it might cause, seeing a human "connected" to machine.

Because they can't store all that info in human minds.
But Odrade's hessitation seems to indicate cyborgs are a bit of a frowned upon thing, to say the least.
Maybe she's got bad OM from the cymeks.

Maybe it's because cyborgs aren't something they can hide, like a computer?orald wrote:Because they can't store all that info in human minds.

That last bit really annoys me when I read their crap. You can't tell a difference from just the dialogue between the robots and the humans. Its pretty piss poor writing with no clear distinction between character types.orald wrote:Unless you change his mind, never. A cymek(boo) is still a human, even retarded P&B got that.
Of course, their robots are also human, even though they're as intellegant as braindead 5 y-o's.
