I could be wrong about it being available as a major, but up here most schools I've looked at have Arts versions of physics, astronomy, etc (whatever science you can think of) classes. They're pretty much the same as the Sciences versions, but with less math. I've considered taking them, as I have a good grasp on the basics of relativity and quantum physics, but the numbers are (in all honesty) over my head.

I guess that might be true (reading the definitions the two words look almost interchangeble) but I'd say that in general use (IMO) cosmology is a much broader term than astronomy, and maybe more about the philosophical side of astronomy, often including religious takes on it all. I have read some great stuff on the new cosmology, but the scientific side of things interests me more. The classes I'm looking at taking are straight astronomy/physics.

My college offers BA's for science classes, too. The option exists if you take a dual/triple-major or are on a pre-professional track (like pre-med). To graduate with a BA in chemistry, for example, you need calculus I & II for business/social sciences, plus "basic" chem courses: quant, pchem I, ochem. For a BS in chemistry, you're required to take calc I, II, III for science/math majors, plus a math elective, in addition to a wide range of chem courses: pchem I & II with labs, quant, qaul, ochem, inorganic, etc. Plus, to graduate with a BS in chem, you're required to take biology courses (bio & biochem), 2 physics courses (must be calc-based), and a foreign language.

Pffft... That was common knowledge among seventh-graders about eleven years ago... (I was one of them.)
