I thought I was the only one ...
... boy was I wrong.
I am ashamed to admit that I have purchased and read all of the McDune books up to McDune 7.5 (with the magical dues ex machina ending). I was almost physically ill at the realization, upon finishing McDune 7.5, that (i) there was no way there were any notes, (ii) I had been lied to, and (iii) I had wasted all that time and money on a pathetic attempt at fan fiction which had the primary goal of milking Frank Herbert's legacy for money.
In any event, I suffered alone in silence for a number of years, being unable to properly express my profound sense of loss at the raping of a literary classic which had such a meaningfull positive influence on my formative years, until I stumbled upon the Dune Novels board, the rediculousness that occurred there sometime ago and, subsequently, Jacurutu. I have lurked on this board for a number of weeks and figure now is as good a time as any to throw my support to the cause.
I particularly am disheartened at the latest "in-quels" that are now directly harming the very story, characters and themes created by Frank Herbert and am somewhat repulsed by the knowledge that KJA will likely continue to hack his way through the entirety of the Dune universe (i.e., Great Schools books?) unless something can be done to convince the HLP to stop him.
So ... hello.

I had no idea that there were this many Frank Herbert fans left alive, what with the head exploding horror that is the KJA/BH atrocity.

I think you'll do well here ...

Look on the bright side; you figured it out for yourself and have grown. That's the best possible result from reading trash like KJA.
Welcome to the boards.

Welcome.
I don't think the author should make the reader do that much work - Kevin J. Anderson
We think we've updated 'Dune' for a modern readership without dumbing it down.- Brian Herbert
There’s an unwritten compact between you and the reader. If someone enters a bookstore and sets down hard earned money(energy) for your book, you owe that person some entertainment and as much more as you can give. - Frank Herbert

Welcome!
Trust me, you are not alone, rain_maker. Several of us read through all the novels to the "sequels" and came out twisted and malformed like a Guild Navigator. It also takes a particularly twisted individual to continue reading/skimming the new novels to expose even more of the blasphemy by BoBoHo and TehKJAacket to us simple Iduali (I'm looking at you, Chig
).
Have fun at Jacurutu, Orthodox Herbertarian!

Hello rain_maker!
As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Hypatia approaches one.

Welcome. Your Water is Ours.
The best way to get that nasty taste of McDune out of your mouth
is to hang around & ridicule Keith and his minions.
And his fat, overbearing wife.
And her retarded son.
And his little bitch-man dog, too.

I'm still very proud of The Quarry but … let's face it; in the end the real best way to sign off would have been with a great big rollicking Culture novel.
