Hello from the "Domstadt"
Hello, just kept on lurking and forgot to introduce myself... well, here we go: I live in Germany, Cologne to be precise, and I am a 36 years old mathematician who loves "Dune" from his childhood onwards. I started by watching the Lynch movie and then jumped to the books immediatly. Somehow I was kinda excited when I heard that new books would be coming out, but this excitement vanished quite fast... but somehow it brought me back to re-reading and re-reading the books again. At the moment it's "God Emperor"... well, so much for now... you wanna learn more, just ask...

Paul of Dune was so bad it gave me a seizure that dislocated both of my shoulders and prolapsed my anus.

I don't think the author should make the reader do that much work - Kevin J. Anderson
We think we've updated 'Dune' for a modern readership without dumbing it down.- Brian Herbert
There’s an unwritten compact between you and the reader. If someone enters a bookstore and sets down hard earned money(energy) for your book, you owe that person some entertainment and as much more as you can give. - Frank Herbert

Hi rygel, nice to meet you. I'm about to start rereading GEoD too.

Using your quote as a representation for all the nice welcome posts above... thanks and, yes, I believe I already do like it here. So, I'll try and bring myself more into these discussions here. I have almost finished GEoD, but once I start HoD I'll get involved in the re-read portions of the forum.Eyes High wrote:Hope you will like it here. This place can be addictive.
