Subakh ul Kuhar.
I just found this forum after a google search turned up "A Frank Herbert Secondary Sources Bibliography" at http://fhss.solahpmo.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. It was quite helpful in showing some postgraduate papers on topics that I had no idea about because they haven't been published! Very frustrating, but I've managed to get in contact with two of them and am in the process of getting a hold of the papers. I am currently working on a postgraduate paper myself on Dune so need all the sources I can get! Unfortunately, online forums aren't really looked upon favorably by the academic establishment as source material, but I suppose I might be able to get some ideas from here.

Hi bgscholar, welcome to Jacurutu.

Re: Offworlder
Hi, BGScholar. That secondary sources page is mine. You should also check out a place called The (Almost) Undeleted. There are a lot more resources there that you may find useful. As a matter of fact, in the upcoming weeks one user there is going to be updating a new list of scholarly assets about Herbert and Dune that will dwarf the secondary sources link.
There is also a mirror of the Secondary Sources link that is more up to date.
Who have you contacted? I actually have most of those dissertations, but several I have not put up because I dont have permission. If you have contact for a few of them, I'd appreciate it if you would give me that contact so I can get the necessary permissions.
I suppose as an admin here I should also warn you that engaged participation at any of these websites may upset the HLP, the body that manages Frank Herbert's literary estate. If you have any intention of contacting them for help, you likely should remain aloof from us. Of course, you will be welcomed with open arms should you decide to do that, then come home to us later. I would love to chew the fat with you about FH and your project, so please consider that a warning for your own good and not an attempt to chase you away. And if the circumstances were any different I would say that is unfortunate, but the sad fact is that most of us like it that way.
EDITED to color the link red so it is more visible.

Hello BGScholar. Welcome on board. You will find that most of these guys and gals are quite knowledgable when it comes to the universe that is Dune.
And most of them are even up to date on their shots.

Re: Offworlder
Yeah, you might say that we're like Brian Herbert and the Internet.
We have "philosophical reservations" concerning the way the HLP has decided to cheapen Frank Herbert's legacy by releasing volume after volume of barely third-rate YA crap under the "Dune" label.
Just so we're clear on that.
(Oh yeah, I don't know what the lady was going on about with the "shots" stuff. Shots? What shots, Eyes? )

I do find the animosity toward Kevin J. Anderson and Brian Herbert on the boards amusing. Reminds me of George Lucas and the prequels. *shudders*
Omphalos, thanks for the info. Where is the more updated mirror site that you mentioned? I haven't contacted anyone at the Herbert estate as I have no need to - I'm just working on a literary critique so don't require much beyond the novel itself. Like they could restrict my internet forum participation...ha. Sounds like they've had their hands in the cookie jar too long and can't see anything but dollar signs. I saw the link to the Spain film thing that was shut down, really unfortunate.

We didn't have forums when I was in high school.
Other than in the old Roman cities, I mean.

Actually, my dear, I myself had a Radio Shack TRS-80.Eyes High wrote:Did they even have computers when you were in highschool.
No permanent data storage expect a cassette tape recorder, minimal RAM (I forget how many KB), no mouse, black-n-white screen, programmed in BASIC.

I had a Commodore 64 before my dad bought an Apple II C. Teh one with the little green monitor. That monitor still works. My school had a computer lab for everyone with Apple II's.
