I'm currently re-reading Chapterhouse. It's the only Dune book I haven't read a second time. I'm frigging loving it. It gets a little Jewish at times, but there is some truly great writing all the way through. This thread reminds me that Chapterhouse was his final book. I shall bear that in mind as I continue reading.
Just supposing... Do you think Frank would be upset with us if we made him the first Ghola to have his original memories restored? Like, supposing the technology and techniques existed, and the world nominated Frank Herbert to be the first to be resurrected. The plus side is, he could write more Dune novels. The down side would that he would probably berate us for bringing him back, and go on about bureaucracies and hydraulic despotism... Either way, I'd be all for it.

Paul of Dune was so bad it gave me a seizure that dislocated both of my shoulders and prolapsed my anus.

I would also hope one of the first things he would do is go and fire KJA and recall all the McDune books.

He'd probably have a thing or two to say about hero worship as well.

The idea of ressurecting Him is blasphemous!

Outstanding to all, more than I hoped for. Its not worship, its honor, and I understand Chig's view and appreciate it.
I have been sharing Dune with a lot of people the last few months.. and was feeling I should honor the author who has impacted my life so profoundly. Your words and praise and honor are heard.. they float out along the winds to the etherworld and beyond. Those are picked up and heard, I have no doubt.
While I dont think he would approve of returning, I think he would enjoy more of a sitdown under a good shade tree, everyone relaxing, discussing his ideas and works. A sitdown on a dune in the desert would be mighty fine too:)

I lent my copy of Dune to a co-worker, a young guy with a new baby. First time I've done that in a while. I gave him a link to here, maybe he'll drop by.

I've actually thought about if that was a mistake, giving him the URL. Hits to this site from two work computers may draw unwanted attention. And I've been googing off too much lately.
Back to the drawing board...

Yeah, this place is a black hole. I drop by "for a few minutes" to read some updates, and an hour later, I realize I should be working.Freakzilla wrote:I've actually thought about if that was a mistake, giving him the URL.
