Fell asleep in front of the tube again.
(But didn't drool this time!)
Decided to see what was up rather than trudge upstairs to the futon.
Friday is usually a work-at-home day, but all classes are cancelled today on campus because this weekend is the uni festival.
It's not a bad life....

Hey, 'Rider, it looks like he's been doing his edit thang again:
Actually, to be completely honest, I've always thought that entire "Dune Cookbook" forum to be pretty stupid and pointless.

The OP of the thread, by arnie, is fairly stupid in its way as well. Looks like he's posting his fanfic wherever he wants, now.¡Y tú madre también! Come mierda. And sock puppet. Batty Boy.

Same here. I could see it being maybe one thread in an off-topic forum, but to devote an entire top-level category to an effing Dune Cookbook? That's just absurd on a number of levels.SandChigger wrote:Actually, to be completely honest, I've always thought that entire "Dune Cookbook" forum to be pretty stupid and pointless.

NEKHRUN! DON'T DO IT, MAN!

The only craven one I see anywhere is FannyPop. And the guy with the finger on the delete button.
Think he'll edit that out?

You don't think the big letters that spell DUNE do that huh?

he (fantomas) logged off without editing it. I think "Eat Me" on a "civilized" board is probably justifiable for deletion - which is why I don't post on "civilized" boards anymore.....but really, and I've wondered about this for a long while now, why hasn't Merritt banned Nekhrun ? He walks right up the edge of Merritt's Rules, and sometimes over - I've seen his posts deleted, but I've seen others (innocents, too, mind you) banned for less. Not trying to stir up trouble, I'm just wondering and still trying to figger out what's rattling around in Merritt's head .....
edit - ^^^ that's beautiful, GP.
double edit - I'm not sure a chat function would solve the topic de-railment problem .......

See, on Facebook, one is able to login and gain access to all one's friends with a single click. Further, Facebook's interface encourages very brief correspondence. Thus, my friend says it's easy to remain in touch with everyone via one point of contact and he says he can write shorter (hence, more useless) messages to his friends. This saves him much more time and thus allows him to keep in more frequent contact with the rest of us.
Of course, he fails elaborate upon the ancillary benefit of this Facebook system, which I know applies directly to him. You see, this particular friend of mine has a very unique and incredibly annoying personality quirk: he has, what I have coined, a "social quota." Once he reaches his social quota for a given time period (let's say a week), he wants no more social interaction for that time period. Technology, it seems, has finally caught up with my friend and thus Facebook is a method by which he can control his social exposure on his terms.

And before you ask, don't ask. He really is a great guy, but we've just all come to accept him the way he is. His wife is a saint.

I used the Facebook a little recently, in regards to an upcoming
reunion, and I'd say your friend has a good point, GP. It is a one-stop,
quick interaction site. Makes sense to me.
