Hey everyone!
Hi everyone! Let me start by saying I am a massive Dune fan. I live in the UK, I am 25. My first Dune experiance was the Movie and I thought it was fantastic until I read the book that is. I own all the Dune books but I've only read the orignal FH novels. I hope to spend alot of time getting to know everyone here and discussing Dune with other fans.

I never got around to it lol. To be honest I'll confess I've had Dune since 1998 and I only started to read the series in 2007 LOL. However I did read Dune when I was girst given it as a birthday present back in '98 thats why I ended up buying the rest of them. Thats also why I haven't read the prequal/sequals I've just finished Chapter House and I am now reading House Atreides for the first time.A Thing of Eternity wrote:Welcome.
You bought the new books but didn't read them?

I know but I am one of those ppl where I believe that if you truly want an opinion on something, you have to read or see it for yourself. From what most of you say these will be bad compaired to FH books. I am trying to approch this from an open mind where I am not expecting them to be anything like FH's great Dune novels. I even got my GF to read Dune but she stopped at the first one because she felt the story was finished for her that is. She liked where it ended and didn't want to spoil that nice image at the end of the first book. Which I can understand but still I keep telling her to read God Emperor.Serkanner wrote:You can still stop. Yes I've floated around DuneNovels for a long time now. Each time I've applied to join I never get in. Perhaps they know I'll just get booted lol. It makes me sad when I read about people being banned from there just because they didn't like the new novels. Reminds me of Harkonnen rule over there some times lol I kid of course.SandChigger wrote:Hey!
Be glad this isn't DumbNovels. That sort of comment, lacking BALANCE, SOPHISTICATION, and POINTEDNESS just wouldn't float, Mister.
I really started to enjoy House A but I think its because of the memory I've had from reading Dune. The more I am reading the less I am enjoying it but I'll power on through them lol

Hello there.
Yes I have to say I started to like the House books, just because it was some NEW DUNE. But I realized, as I'm sure you will as you go thru it, reading each prequel is like trying to make a new cup od tea... with the same teabag. Over and over and over again, until there is no flavor left... only a tepid color of what it should be.

Dang that sucks, Cause I'm just certain that Stephen is an OH.
I'll be in NYC in October, if I run into him I'll try and recruit him.
It would be worth getting ourselves mocked as well to have Stephen Colbert Declare Kevin J Anderson a "Difference Maker"
that or maybe we could get him "On Notice"

Hi Laphtiya!
And Amp that would be cool as hell with Steven Colbert. It might not be as far a stretch (maybe the meeting him part is) as you think.I played the MMPOG Dungeons and Dragons Online Stormreach back about 2 years now. Steven Colbert actuatlly had a spot at the end of the show where he announced the game and put the box of the game on his shelf.
Granted AD&D isnt Dune, but shows he might be into some other things. KJA/BH slammed by Steven Colbert would be just to cool.
