In Heretics a reference is made to the cost of the Null s̶h̶i̶p̶ globe build by the Harkonnen which must have bankruted them (almost), when Teg, Duncan and Lucilla hide in it. You are mixing things up.

The interesting point here only becomes clear as we consider that the BT infiltrated (or partnered with?) Ix. For the BG we would assume breeding for genetic 'design', but for the BT it might be outright manipulation or engineering. Assuming their suspicion about Malky was correct, I wonder what template or method they used to determine what kind of person would be the ideal Falstaff to go along with Leto's Hal. In some ways Malky feels to me like a version of Gurney but with the setting switched to "evil".

Hwi said that Malky knew Leto wouldn't have done what he did without a selfless reason, but she didn't elaborate. I don't think anyone really understood what the Golden Path meant except for the Atreides that Leto tested and Hwi.

The funny question to ask, then, is whether Leto had his diaries put in the no-room specifically so that he, himself, couldn't see what was in them once the thoughts were taken from his mind. Maybe he thought he might be tempted to edit or destroy them if he perceived what was contained within, and make it instead so that the pure, unadulterated thoughts were what got written down without any editorial process. The worm would then be sure to ave its say, might be a way of putting it.

But I guess it would also serve the purpose of perhaps obscuring the diaries should Leto suddenly die. Maybe the chances of that were remote, and while alive he, himself, would shield them from prescience, so I guess my feeling for the moment is that it was to protect the entries from himself.

Could it also be protection from the diaries being read too soon? By the time of the events of GEoD much of Leto's own life is regarded as myth and his diaries might have revealed too much too soon for the Golden Path to succeed.

Allowing the Stolen Journals to be, er, stolen was perhaps a way of keeping interest in Leto's history without revealing things that could alter the GP.

i don't think his journals were being printed out in a no-room at the time of god emperors writing
leto's exchange with malky would have been different and Moreno wouldnt have shown the surprise he does at that exchange

he came up with that angle years later as heritics was developed
