I'm a long time Dune fan, though I'm well overdue for a re-read.
In the interests of full disclosure, I have read both the 'House' and 'Legends' series prequels. While they make for decent reading in general, they are far from what Dune should be and definitely not my vision of the Butlerian Jihad (I always pictured it a lot closer to what the Dune Encyclopedia came up with). I waited a long time despite that for Dune 7 to come out, hoping to at-least find some closure to the Heretics/Chapterhouse arc and the series as a whole. When they started releasing chapters in advance, I was saddened that it seemed even worse than the prequels were and served as a sequel to those books rather than Chapterhouse. Norma Cenva acting as a literal god in their version of the Duniverse, a real deus ex machina. I couldn't even bring myself to read Hunters or Sandworms.
After taking a bit of a break from the franchise, I'm excited to engage again in some serious discussion of Frank's works.

Paul of Dune was so bad it gave me a seizure that dislocated both of my shoulders and prolapsed my anus.
