Like this thread, but more ... Dunesy.
Seriously, I'd be interested to hear what kind of associations other people have.

Edit: the youtube tag thing doesn't work for me. Here's a link: Edward Artemiev - Meditation

No music while reading books. Though I do often have music on while working.

Toto music; Pink Floyd's Meddle, Wish You Were Here, and The Wall; Styx's Biggest Hits... no actually, strike that out; David Bowie's The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars and the song "The Man Who Sold the World."
The soundtracks to Lawrence of Arabia, Star Wars, The Ten Commandments, Lynch's and Harrison's Dune.
Middle-Eastern ambient music, Unreal Gold's soundtrack, StarCraft's soundtrack.
That's about it.

In my view bands like Sleep or OM really compliment reading Dune. It also helps that the band members from both bands are obsessed with dune releasing their inspired artwork.

One of These Days from the Pink Floyd album Meddle fits the scene where Paul takes the Water of Life perfectly.
The Toto/ Brian Eno soundtrack is great too, shame that its brilliance was nullified by its accompaniment of a mess of a film.
Rachmaninov is also great.
