Excuse my ignorance but what will FB allow us to do that we can't do here, I've had an account since 2005or6 and I've not used it more than 20 times. It's a mystery to me.

FB can't beat forums for serious and organized talks (or less serious and organized), it's like a billboard really, more suited to short blitzkrieg outbursts.

the Facebook has been of great use to me,
because every re-enactor & his hound dawg
has an FB page ... & re-enacting units have
Group pages ... it's a very easy way to quicky
communicate w/ lots of folks at once, f'instance,
is Billy Bob bringin' the powder & make sure
Thelma bakes enough apple pies & etc.

individual event pages can be set up, like say
for the Battle of Possums' Ass Holler in Toad Suck,
Arkansas ... general info can be posted & things
co-ordinated ... much better than a bunch of individual
websites or emails that everyone may not get ... &etc.

as to what Facebook can do that this board can't, I say
nothing .... as lotek said, it could serve as a "pointer"
to the sietch ... just something else to dick around on the
internet with .... altho, I am interested in a "SandRider" FB,
if only to be denied entry into Merritt's Dune Saga Group ....
I'd also like to make Keith personally take the time to Block me ....

that'd be some small fun ....

what I've got to do is figger out how to construct a
FaceBook profile for the SandRider, and not mix that
up w/the one I use for the srs bidness ... cause I ain't
bullshitin, most confederate re-enactors are hardcore right-
wing Christian Nazis & shit, and if it were ever discovered
that I not only post on a heathen board like this, but
am actually considered a Pillar of this Community, I'd be
