Ah, Phaed, you see, if Chig hadn't been talking of himself in the 3rd person and as Norma this wouldn't have happened.
It's all Chig's fault.

I've started to get into Scotch, I used to just get sick on it. Some Scots explained that you're supposed to mix it, one part Scotch to one part water, to bring out the flavour.Omphalos wrote:I prefer scotch to beer anyday.

Exactly, and don't use tap water. Use something pure and cool. I usually go without water, but when I do use it I go two parts scotch to one part water, unless I'm drinking one of those vat strength single malts, in which case it is one to one.chanilover wrote:I've started to get into Scotch, I used to just get sick on it. The spelling is correct, I just don't understand why you'd remove those three little letters.orald wrote:I have a problem remembering how to spell your name, the whole "a-e" thing. And I like shortening names here.Phaedrus wrote:Phaed?
What?
It's almost affectionate or something, and I was under the impression that you wanted everyone to die.

If I wish someone to just die it is a sign of affection.
You don't want to know what I wish my enemies.
I put a beer in the freezer, so I'm not totally OT.
Bad news is, I'm probably too tired from work and going back on foot(no busses, holiday here. uphill) that I'll fall asleep before I open it and it'll crack in the freezer. Or I'll just be too tired to drink.

Non-beer, beverage-related question:
Can you still get crushed-ice makers back in the States?
When I was growing up we had a little combo can-opener/crushed ice maker thing. (I think it may still work...I seem to remember using it a few summers back.) What do you do for the crushed ice you use in your mixed drinks...use a blender? Have one of those refrigerators that dispenses out the door?
I spent several hours yesterday afternoon running around trying to find something, only turned up weak-ass-bladed juicers that couldn't handle ice or fullsized blenders, which I've already got one of. (Ended up using it last night, but the ice was too slushy.)
Any suggestions?

Yeah...they're standard on the bigger models over here now, too. When my fridge went out last summer I considered getting one, but I tend to avoid "frills" that are likely to break down and just be more aggravation than they're worth.
Besides, the size I could get was constrained by the other stuff in the kitchen.

Mine has a little switch on the door to chose between crushed and cresent ice. Not only has the switche iteslf broken off (there's still a pointy little nub you can poke into your finger) it sometimes gets stuck on crushed ice. And I don't like crushed ice in my drinks.

Wouldn't some sort of mini-bar machine have such an option, Chig, since it's already mostly about drinks? Or are they just little useless fridges?
