I'm sorry, have I offended anyone? What do I have to apologize for? Pointing out mistakes? I didn't put those in the books. I didn't publish the books. I didn't derail a movie with a snide comment.

I will apologize for the personal attacks, jokes about Jabbeca, etc. They'll get that apology when they apologize for lumping us in with disgruntled Star Wars fanboys and terrorists. Of course to do so they would have to admit that we have legitimate complaints about the quality of the work.

Dune deserves quality additions to its canon. Not quantity. 11 more books in the series does not equal the quality of the original.

I would trust an unknown author who says they want to make a quality book and promises to take the time to do it over a known rent-a-hack paint-by-numbers manufacturer who only cares about tying his name to Dune.

Yeah, the ice cream parlor idea is definitely out there, but I get the point. It feels like things got pretty messy, and maybe just apologizing to the Herberts could help clear the air. They’re actually pretty chill once you get to know them, and Brian can talk your ear off if you catch him late on Skype. Honestly, stepping back and making things right with everyone might be the best way to move forward at this point.
