No sir, I simply made a different version, aiming for photo-realism. Also kind of hoped it would make a nice banner on the main page, but since that never happened it now lives in my signature.SandRider wrote:Drunken Idaho had a hand it that as well, didn't he?

One day we're going to paint the place and put up curtains, I promise.

that thread is here somewhere ... maybe if we stayed on-topic & named threads better
it could be found easier ... but ... it is what it is ... I stumbled across it not too long ago,
tho, and all I remembered was that the "logo" was a combined-effort, in my mind ....

You might be right, in that we collectively designed the logo. But I'm pretty sure that someone else actually executed it for the first time in the logo we see at the top of each page ^SandRider wrote:okay ... but I think the blood-splatter was your improvement ?Drunken Idaho wrote:No sir, I simply made a different version, aiming for photo-realism. I'm having trouble remembering. And yes, even this topic should be in "Dune Media" or the General board, rather than Ghafla. This is not Ghafla!

Well it was a distraction for me at the time, but I guess that it could be moved.

I've been asking for volunteers to fix the place up for years.

I run a phpbb board, but only know enough to get myself in trouble. I hack our files/themes, but I'm not sure I'd be comfortable doing it on someone else's site yet. Maybe in a year or two when I've got more experience with those files.Freakzilla wrote:I've been asking for volunteers to fix the place up for years.

Pretty sure we set up a test board on our server so that those who are inclined to screw around with templates have a place to do so. IIRC it even links to the database and thus has copies of all the posts of this board.

The original broth of creativity started here: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=892&p=24014" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and logically progressed here: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=899" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

(I remember going through at least 50 different iterations of blood-spats before getting the one by accidentally double-painting the same splat twice
)
There are still a couple of Jacurututm logos I created for the themes already installed kicking about somewhere.

Heh, I guess I forgot that I got the ball rolling on that. I also don't remember having an opinion about wide vs. narrow discussion boards. But anyway, I found this in one of those threads... Still makes me laugh:DuneFishUK wrote:The original broth of creativity started here: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=892&p=24014" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and logically progressed here: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=899" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;![]()

To hell with that. The thread digressions are just as entertaining than the topics themselves. Besides, the search function here is good enough to find stuff without too much effort.SandRider wrote:that thread is here somewhere ... maybe if we stayed on-topic & named threads better

Personally I'd rather enjoy my time here on the forum and not have to spend all my time cleaning shit up. Besides, were already a pretty big forum and I can still usually find what I need to fine with search.

now hold up ... just hold up ...
all I said was that IF we stayed on-topic and IF the threads were named better
THEN it would be easier to find something ... that's just a goddamn fact, but that
DON'T mean it's my opinion that we SHOULD do any of that ...
swear to gawd, the way you people deliberately mis-understand and go-on about shit,
you all sound like my second ex-wife ...

well, now wait ...
that woman was actually my second wife, but my first ex-wife;
my first wife passed on before I could actually divorce her, altho
we'd not be living together for some time ... I divorced the second
wife (& the third), never actually "legally" married the fourth wife,
but I think I AM still legally married to the fifth wife ... or fourth
"wife", but fifth woman ... so if I DID actually sign the papers on
her, that would make her my third ex-wife ... (THAT woman is
a handfull, lemme tell ya ...)
