Should I read the so-called Dune7 in the name of completion?

I am commited to never reading the McDune 7 duo, so I am hoping someone can briefly tell me why Sandworms of Dune (such a wretched title by the way) has worms coming out of the sea on its cover art? I am afraid to ask, but I have to know why.

A ghola of Waff did some genetic engineering and created waterworms... and they produce ultra spice, which is so much more powerful than spice that it causes Paulo, the evil ghola of Paul raised by a ghola Baron, who had just stabbed a ghola of Paul, to fall into a catatonic state filled with prescient dreams.

I could not make something this stupid up.

And then the ghola of Leto walks into the mouth of a small sandworm that was in the noship, and a few of these sandworms somehow join together and morph into "the biggest sandworm ever" (even though it was something like 7 worms, each 40 feet, which isn't a tiny fraction of the mass of the sandworm Paul first rode in Dune... yup I did the math, it's not hard math...). And then that sandworm burrows into the ground on the planet run by the evil machines and accomplishes precisely nothing.

I actually did an in-depth review of Sandworms of Dune, and NOT ONE SINGLE PLOTLINE (of MANY) has ANYTHING to do with the final outcome of the book. Not one single plotline, they're all completely pointless and have nothing to do with the resolution.

Seriously, we could not make this shit up, it's just amazing.

Don't read 'Sandworms of Dune'. That particular book wasted 8 months of my life, as I dissected it, and topic-ked every character, every thought process, ad nauseum on the Dune Wiki. I keep my name, to remind me of the time wasted in my life defending what I eloquently called for 12 years, 'Expanded Dune'.

When I think that Kevin is bringing out 'Erasmus' for another 3 book spin, it makes me sick.

I read the first two trilogies, then got through part one of the "grand finale," then bought Sandworms and said "fuck that. Life's too short" before starting it. I could not get my local used book store to take the piece of trash, so I just threw it away.

The last for me was Sandworms. Even though it was a travesty, if I read any of the others I'm sure I'd lose my mind. I certainly came close after Sandworms.

Actually I did read up to that chapter at a Borders. At first I was going to read it a little at a time at a store so I wouldn't give The Hacks any more money, but now I'm trying to work on my anger issues towards them.

I read both Hunters and Sandworms back to back. My reaction is much like Thing's.

"One big disjointed gholafest" would actually be a whole lot more interesting than Sandworms turned out to be. By the end of Sandworms, the authors were just throwing random, nonsensical plot elements into the mix to try to generate some sort of tension or excitement, Dune consistency be damned. They failed to generate any.

There's a reason why any summary of any of the plot points sounds like a bad parody. It's *that* bad.

To be fair, I've realized that one plotline, in a really lose way had something to do with the resolution, the Norma plotline. The rest was complete gibberish.

I did like their "lightspeed" ships that got from system to system nice and quickly though!
