Coffee Service
What is a coffee service?

When Paul was three I found him wearing lingerie I was planning to wear for my Duke. I asked him: "How can this be?" and he answered: "For I am the Kwisatz Haderach!" I was proud since these were the first words Paul ever spoke, but now I knew for certain that my Paul was a special boy. I brought him to Duncan's room while he was busy "training" a young maidservant in the Art of Sword-Handling. My Paul shall be the best! - Tleszer

It is a important social event.

Re: Coffee Service
the Fremen were "modeled" on (Frank's conception of) the Bedu (Bedouin) of the central Arabian Peninsula;
as stated above, coffee (and stupidly strong tea) is the center of social ritual (Bedu coffee is bad-ass strong, too ...
served in an itty-bitty cup, about three or four times stronger than espresso)(and off the top of my swollen, bloated
head, I can't call the name of the type of coffee beans used, but the result is a disturbingly dark green, thick liquid,
like 50:1 oil-gas mixes for chainsaws ...)
being a traditionally "nomadic" culture, the Bedu kept their personal possession light, for travel, and the coffee service
was (and is) a prized possession (often passed down for generations - even in a "modern" Arab's home, you must
hear the complete story of the life of the coffee service from your host before taking the first sip)
altho not specifically stated by Frank, I'd assume that a Fremen's coffee service would be among the handful of
"possessions" considered important, and one of the few things packed-up and taken with them when the tribe
was "on the move" ....

Re: Coffee Service
Sandrider really said it all, not much left for me to say "yup".
I wonder how their coffee compares to the stuff in Ethiopia? Sounds like it's even stronger, which is a scary thought! I love bold coffee, but the Ethiopian stuff seemed pretty damned near fullblast to me.
