Unions aren't very big in Atlanta.
I take it they're from Atlanta? I was talking about what happens to you if you try go all union on Coke in the developing nations factories/plants. I'd rather not go into it, anyone curious should be able to find out with a quick bit of googling. Not a fantastically moral company.
Coca-Cola was invented in Columbus, GA and is headquartered in Atlanta.

fuck, I hope so.
I hope to see UAW firebombing the plants in about six months.
50 million unemployed in the streets.
Student revolutions, mass bank robberies, malls on fire,
supermarkets looted, &etc.

the only way it could've been better would've been to elect McCain -
let him attack Iran, Syria, Pakistan, Russia, China, et al,
reinstate the draft - that's the ONLY thing that will get the kids to
wake the fuck up - worked for me !

Hey, what fixed the last great depression? Oh right, it was a world war. Maybe that's what all this is leading up to. WWIII baby! On the plus side, the economy will be strong and healthy after the fighting is over. But whose economy will it be?

You mean the idiots/retards war...

Did anyone see Jesus Camp? This one psycho bitch that the movie sort of focuses on says that she demonstrates to the kids at camp how hardcore and devoted Muslim children are, and tries to get the Christian kids to beat their enthusiasm. How about a pool on when the first Radical-Christian suicide bombing will occur?

Don't you get to change the diapy on the Baby Jesus for a few months around this time of year?

And then eat what you find in it?

(Oh, come on, Christianity has always required you to swallow some incredible shit, no? )

The funny thing for me about the holiday season, is that I quite enjoy it. As an naturalistic pantheist, I've got no awe for any God mankind has ever written about, but when it comes to Christmas songs, I love the old Jesusy ones much more than the contemporary crap (anything written in the last 100 years or so). If it mentions Santa, or Rudolph, or chestnuts, then it's no good. Give me the epic, Godly, angelic stuff. It's got heart.

Hey, preachin' to the choir again.

I LOVE Xmas! :D

It doesn't really have much to do with Xianity anymore, anyway!

I haven't bothered putting up the mini-tree or lights for a few years, 'cause it's just me.* But if I were back home with the family and friends about, I'd probably do it up in a big way.

A guy at work (same one that did Thanksgiving this year) is having a party at his place this weekend, so I'm kinda looking forward to that. (Have to work on Xmas Eve; am taking Xmas and the day after off and then it's holidays until Jan. 5. :D

New Years is the big holiday over here. Ah...the benefits and demerits of living in a non-Xian nation! )

*(Oh, yeah, and Bint. ;) )

I don't think it ever really did. The church decided to celibrate Jesus' birth December 25th because it was near the pagan Winter Solstice holiday, IIRC.

Yeah, but their intention was celebrating the birth. Doing it during the Saturnalia was just good camouflage.

The (now over-commercialized) gift giving and all the Germanic Yule traditions had nothing to do with Xianity. Just the opposite, in fact.

Meh. Who needs God and Sweet Baby Jayzus anyway?

(If there's any truth in the Gospels about this bit, the birth would have been in spring. Otherwise those shepherds watching their flocks by night would have frozen their tits off. ;) )

I've started saying Xmas out loud instead of just writing it, really fun in the presence of the religious.

How do you say it, "eks-mass"? Or are you super-pedantic and say "Chi-mass"? :P

Try the latter out once and let me know what the reaction is. (Calibrate your befuddlement scale with your own reaction to that Murbella MiniCoont post from DN earlier. )

That's weird. People in the UK like to say and write Christmas, just to annoy the pedantic PC brigade who infest a lot of local councils. :lol

Oh I realize that. They also believe that the earth is 6,000 years old, that evolution is a lie, and that the rapture is always around the corner.

What I was wondering was whether or not Jean Marai believed that.

Why would anyone think/believe that Mary was a virgin? Wasn't she married to Joseph? Lame marriage.
