I'm only a little angry at the CEP up there and the CWA down here.
They've been stealing our fiber splicers left & right, but then, they
generally offer a better deal, so .....

y'all watch C-span today if you can - see first hand what the Big 3's
arguments are.

I don't get C-Span up here, maybe I'll youtube it later...

But here are the two lies you'll hear from them:

"Our concern lies primarily in the massive job-losses our valued workers will face."

"After we receive this bail-out, we'll put an emphasis on renewable fuels and other domestic, clean resources."

I want the companies to fail. I want the unions to collapse. I want to see the whole shitty industry shaken to it's core.

Then, when everything is reduced to rubble, someone can come in with a new idea, a new model and a new business that actually works. A nice big reset button.

Looks like it may have been a bad idea for the auto industry execs to fly their private jets to Washington to beg for money.

Who says employers have to pay you enough to live on?

Nobody is forced to work for the auto industry. They can move, get another job, get a second job, etc...

I think that unions still have a place. But the fact is that what the UAW has done, IMHO, is harshly and stupidly anti-competative, especially in a world where many of the worker's rights and affairs issues that they care about have been handled and are already part of the law. And I say that they are still necessary because there are still some injustices, and to prevent backsliding. But as for the auto industry, other plants that are non-union pay good money and the workers seem to be happy without all that expensive protection.

I agree unions are still important, here and abroad, especially in developing nations, (but gods save you if you work for Coca Cola and you try to start a union... seriously bad idea) but they have gone to far in a lot of cases in Canada, and from what I hear the US as well.

I take it they're from Atlanta? I was talking about what happens to you if you try go all union on Coke in the developing nations factories/plants. I'd rather not go into it, anyone curious should be able to find out with a quick bit of googling. Not a fantastically moral company.

Coca-Cola was invented in Columbus, GA and is headquartered in Atlanta.
