Need to check my copy of the Dune Encyclopedia to see if that indeed is where it came from.

No, the offending post is up at #2 in the thread.

Fuck, this shit is TWO YEARS OLD. Why bring it up now?

Oh, it's that corpse-waker SparrowsShitofDune again.

...

Hey, hasn't Byron said he's NEVER READ the DE?

Edit: If he really hasn't read it, then he might have got the story from Uncle BoBo or His Master KJA. And they're not supposed to be referring to the DE at all....

From the DE:
An early Duncan Idaho, the consummate Atreidean supporter, rebelled against Leto's increasing authoritarianism and questioned Leto's abuse of that same loyalty. Idaho- 11099 initiated the last, sad Sardaukar campaign against the emperor, a move that resulted in Idaho's death, the final destruction of the Imperial Legions, and the founding of the Fish Speakers. Historians, perhaps some of those incinerated by Leto on the pyre of their own works, have remarked on the almost tragic irony involved in this abortive campaign. To be sure, the very notion of any Duncan Idaho leading the hated Sardaukar in an ill-fated, yea, grandiose, campaign battle against an Atreides is the stuff of which a latter- day Harq al-Harba could have made great tragedy. Yet we cannot simply dismiss that Idaho's action as a mere mental aberration and classify it in the same breath as the infamous Dr. Wellington Yueh's treason. Rather we should consider what colossal emotions were required to enable Idaho to overcome his ingrained, almost genetically inculcated, loyalty to any Atreides. And yet just as some revisionist historians have been able to explain even Yueh's triumph over his pyretic conscience by adducing the incalculable passion of his love for his beloved Wanna, so we should now examine Leto's treason — not Duncan- 13724's — to the Atreidean way, his treason to his grandfather Leto I, the Red Duke, to his father Paul Muad'Dib, and to himself.
Guess that answers that.

we need to make it clear to Spanky and the Living Herbert Parasites right now
that we WILL NOT TOLERATE ANY plagiarism or lifting of ideas from the DE,
which they discredit because they can't control or profit from ... so if and when
Leotard of Dune gets published, I don't want to see this Duncan/Sardaukar
storyline ....

and no, Merritt's never read the DE, this is something he picked from somebody else;
like Spanky, I don't think he's attempted to read God-Emperor more than once, and
ended up skimming over all the "hard parts" ...

You mentioned something that comes from the Dune Encyclopedia as being from God Emperor of Dune. It seems to me that perhaps you've read the DE and are maybe confusing the two books in this instance.

You're probably right. I've read it since that post.

How the fuck could he read a part that doesn't exist?

I tell you how, he didn't read fuck all he just agrees with Byron, after all the man deserves to have someone do for him what he does for the hack :)

And the Fish Speakers do not replace the Sardaukar, they replace an all-male army... (and to be precise they replace the Fremen horde who themselves replaced the Sardaukar as the instrument of power of the Emperor)

the idiot of Dune wrote:Yeah, I know. But I guess Frank had to focus more on Leto II's path than on the Sardaukar.
Well considering the book is called God Emperor of Dune, it seems kind of logic that Frank would focus on the subject of the book and not on some silly side plot, since he didn't need to fall back on that sort of trick to reach some word count or whatever...

FAIL!

Aye, good brethren in Orthodox Herbertarianism, 'tis no almost about it. 'Tis a tragedy of monumental proportions on the scale of the fall of Rome or a great Shakespearean performance, one which renders the audience speechless. The depths of human stupidity and vapid commercialism are a vast, boundless hole of ignamious filth and tepid, brain-dead fools. Thou which prefer the carbuncles of the prequels, which shine through the vast, rugged darkness of thine own stupidity, hast thou eyes to see, or ears to hear? Thou art bastions of simplicity, oceans of stupendous artlessness.

I don't even see anything in GEoD that could be even misconstrued(probably spelled wrong) to possibly believing that. The fact that two people validated it is even more shocking. Was that a recent post? Please tell me someone reamed those two a new asshole?

Now out of morbid curiosity i'm going to have to scan all 80 something pages of this topic and see what other DN members have posted that makes absolutely no fucking sense. I mean defending the hack stack is one thing, but this is just......its just........WRONG. I wanna take them by the hand and gently smack the top of it and say NOOOOO.....BAD PREEQ....NOOOO.
