Two things :

In Dune 2000, the Guild really S-U-C-K-S...they look and move like wimps...the Navigator in that one is not bad, but boy he's sweating as if he just folded space from Cool Hand Luke...

...and the only, really great mini is in spanish, but we can't see it, because the FUCKERS don't want us to see it...Image

Both of the miniseries portrayed Jessica Poorly. Especially in the first one, she just kind of follows Paul around and takes care of births. In CoD (and a completely different actress), she has a little more depth, but just barely. I liked the first Stilgar better. And I hate Susan Sarandon. Not only is she a terrible Wensincia (sp), she is about 20 years older than Irulan. They did a pretty good job making Alia somewhat hot in the first disk and then get fatter as they progressed. All in all, I like the movies. They provide some entertainment and provide an inspiration to bust out the FH books again.

Nice thread necromancy there — almost a full year to the day!

Indeed. But as long as you did the job first, iIll take the opportunity to squeeze in my opinion: hated the miniseries. Watched the first one, didn't even bother with Children of Dune. (Though I did try to find the Alia sex scene, but must have FFed past it)

If there is an existing topic I would prefer you to use it instead of starting a new one.

I not a "new topic whore".

I agree, there's nothing at all wrong with ressurecting old threads.

Well I am a new guy, so all the "old" threads are new to me. Kind of like getting a hand me down toy. It might not have the pretty packaging and new toy small or even all of the pieces, but it sure is a toy I haven't played with yet.

You know why black guys have long penises?

Because they didn't have toys to play with when they were kids.

it's also a fetish of royalty.

I don't think I can truly express my complete distaste for the scifi atrocity (haven't seen their attempt at CoD yet). a bit of it is here viewtopic.php?f=3&t=185&start=90. Also, I agree in SciFi's version Jessica was treated like Paul's ineffectual governess and had no aristocratic presence at all.

I didn't mind the dogs. If you're going with a small dog, pugs aren't the worst. I would have preferred Great Danes or bloodhounds, or some hunting dog of a sort. That would have better conveyed "royalty" to me, and dogs are so underused in films these days.

David Lynch originally intended for the pug dog to be an aardvark, but Patrick Stewart refused to be filmed carrying an aardvark into battle.

I recall that.

Here's a list of dogs that used to have interesting and kick-ass purposes and have since become pet laughing stocks. Unfortunately, pugs aren't on it.

(Well, can't take much credit as there is a version of the same pic out there with the caption, "I'm an aardvark. Deal with it!" Couldn't find it, tho. ;) )

(And now that I think about it more, I think he's an anteater. My bad! )

Put anteaters on the list with the whales and whatever else I wanted to nuke earlier in the week ... trees was it?

Aardvarks are pretty bad ass in battle but they are impossible to work with in movies. Prima Donnas on the set every last one of them.

You think Aardvarks are prima donas? Try those fucking bald Mexican cats. They're worse than Pavarotti!
