Greetings

Post by Raveem »

Hello there.

Many thanks to SandChigger for suggesting this (viewtopic.php?t=776&start=60&sid=7d722e ... bbcd14ecfe): I was unaware of this little ritual here amongst the cast out.

I am Raveem, and having vented some long maturing frustration at alt.fan.dune, I thought I'd make an appearance here as well. My position is unambiguous, and certainly not even-handed: I think the "Dune" written by Brian Herbert with his committee is some of the worst writing ever to surface. And in the genre of SF, that is no small achievement (see below).

Of course I hope not to dwell too much on this unfortunate but necessary negativity for Dune fans in these times. Conversely, I'm of the opinion that the original Dune is one of the finest examples of world building, comparable only to other solitary works such as Tolkien's Middle-Earth. As I once mentioned on alt.fan.dune, I truly believe that these two (with a very few sparse augmentations) transcend a genre (speculative fiction) which is otherwise virtually defined by immature writing.

Anyway, greetings to all. Hope to enjoy my time here.

Regards,

Raveem.

Well, Ill be happy to debate the merits of other SF with you. There certainly is some crap out there, but there are also thousands of stories and books that are not.

Welcome though. We do have one thing in common. Guess what that is?

Welcome to Jacurutu, where the people are classy and no one laughs at poop jokes

I have to disagree on one thing, though. KJA is a writing god. He's so powerful that flowers wilt in his very presence!

And grass never grows twice on the hiking paths he hath trod! (Actually, I hear the forestry service quite likes him for this, if not at all for his books.)

Welcome, again! :)

Hi and welcome. You will fit in nicely with that attitude
