Can't we become the Central Kehl and get rid of Powindah hoars like archy instead?

The Mibbit thing is just like any IRC chat, anyone can join if they know what server and channel you are on. You can set it up so that it's more private, but I don't remember how that works. Of course, having strangers pop in can be fun. What I like about the widget is that it's embedded in your site.

We haven't had much luck getting people to chat over at Haven, but there are a lot more people hanging out here at all hours of the day.

Oh my God, there needs to be a chat function here. Whole threads are now being lost to casual conversation that has zero to do with Dune (canon or KJA).

Admins, please consider adding a chat room. Use Mandy's idea, use another one, write a script on your own, whatever.

Chatting and posting are two different functions.

I'm not looking to stifle anyone's chat; I'm making a request for the admins to consider moving it.

Deal with it.

It is not the request that is tiresome, its the continuous whining about other people's posts that winds me up.

I have no time playing in a chat room. A forum is the closest thing I have when I am not harassed by my clients.

Then don't visit any.

I don't think you're following what I'm saying. But whatever. I don't care enough to continue; it's not that big of a deal. Carry on.

The problem is that I am following what your are saying. You want to make us take the chatter to a chat room and I oppose to that.

Fair enough.

I still don't think making a suggestion in a thread clearly labeled "Suggestions" deserves a snarky "Jesus wept." But, clearly, I am wrong.

As I said, not that big of a deal to me either way. I'm not a big fan of chat rooms in the first place.

I'm considering it.

It would be nice if it limited some of the off-topic posts.

I hope you do agree that I have come across a number of posts by you about the chatter on the board and the destruction of debate in topics. I am the type of person that gets easily annoyed by repeated whining ... sorry about that, but its just who I am.

This works both ways, trust me.

Can we just leave it at that?

You mean those banners in the forum description line? I dont know. phpbb is a pretty versatile programming language. look to the phpbb site and search for it. they have a very big help section.

It does, Worm's used to have a shoutbox. It was a lot of fun for a little while, but can cause the server to lag.

There are other hacks out there, but phpbbhacks.com is pretty reliable.

Hmm, I'm trying to think where that quote is from, but I can't place it.

What's with this incredible flurry of activity on the board this morning ?
Don't you people have jobs ?

I personally feel that this message board, Jacurutu, is full of hateful folks who don't know
how to fully interact with people.

I don't watch TV :(
If it was from a film, I'd have half a chance of getting it. It's a good quote though. I like it :)

Jumped the shark, has it? I really should watch an episode or two online. It's been a common staple of pop culture for a while.
The only thing I miss about TV is the water cooler talk. But I watch enough movies, listen to enough music, read enough books and am up on the latest news to largely make up for it.

I like flurries ...

Flurrieswww.jacurutu.com — are good;

Tumbleweedshttp://www.dunenovels.com/phpBB2/ — are bad.

(But, hey, it is the "official" Dune site ... *snort*)

It's 4:00 AM Friday here.
Fell asleep in front of the tube again.
(But didn't drool this time! :D )
Decided to see what was up rather than trudge upstairs to the futon.

Friday is usually a work-at-home day, but all classes are cancelled today on campus because this weekend is the uni festival.

It's not a bad life....
