Scuttlebutt...

Hey...you all remember Omar from Dune Novels? We eventually became Friends on MySpace after he read Sadworms and crossed the Great Divide...to our side. He turns up every once in a while to say howdy; left this today:
...plus I heard hes trying to convince the Children of Dune director for a God Emperor Sequel focusing on Siona, got that one from a fellow nerd at slashdot.com

Is he behind in mortgage payments? does his kid have cancer or what?
(I'm pretty sure he's referring to Kevin there.) And we hoped Letotard of Dune would be the last indignity before they turned back to prehistory. Maybe Siona of Dune and Duncan of Dune aren't just bad joke titles after all?

Has anybody heard anything at all like this? (Nothing on the blogs anywhere yet of course.)

They're going to do a book (or three) for each of the Nine Daughters of Siona and the Thousand Sons of Idaho.

Tell that turncoat to stop spreading crap rumors. Or at least to make it clearer. Is he saying that KJA is trying to get John Harrison to make another movie for SF channel? Or BH?

Actually, in no place in the canon is it ever used on living persons.

The CoD mini-series I hear had that silly feature. The infidel scum. :x

State's Atty. Ilene Nathan: Mr. Little, how does a man rob drug dealers for eight or nine years and live to tell about it?
Omar: Day at a time, I suppose.

:)

Good to see other fans out there. Damn fine quality entertainment.

No, we've been through with this a couple of months ago.
She only hints she'll kill her, like me saying I'll put someone in the grave.
That would mean I'll kill him, not put him in an actual grave for the fun of it or as a method of killing(nice though it might be).

She only says:
"There's always the Huanui," Ghanima said, speaking softly. "We have the deathstill as an alternative. I'm sure you couldn't interfere from there."

You meant "to be dead", didn't you? :P

And yea, that's in the root of the misquote here- appearantly the CoD mini' producers thought it's be oh-so-cool, a-la some iron-maiden-esqe horror feature to the books. :|

yeah, obviously forgetting FH's dislike for 'bands like Iron Maiden' i think was the response

I'm sure at some point in the planet's history, someone somewhere was put into a deathstill while still alive.

Sure, a grave is not intended as an execution method, but it has (i'm sure) been used as such if someone's looking for a creative/nasty way to kill someone.

I think that them doing this in the miniseries is not that far-fetched, and i think it had a cool effect. It was a unusual and nasty punishment.

Nasty? Cruel? Not sure we ever get to hear how it actally works.

Only bit is that the corpse is turned to ashes and water.
So I assume it's some sort of crematorium, evaporating the water and reducing everything else to ash.

Kinda cruel, I guess.

Still, "someone somewhere" does not equal canon. Death to extrapolators! :x
