Music Tastes
I'm curious to see if there is any commonalities between Dune fans and Music.
I'm personally a Guitarist / Audio Engineer, and while music that I like spans alot of genres from Jazz to celtic, classical to indian, my main love will always be metal. Not so much the Motly Crue hair metal (though I do enjoy it) I prefer the more epic/hardcore stuff, everything from classics such as Iron Maiden to modern Metal such as In Flames. Also a big Hardcore fan now that I think of it.

Absolutely not! This community has a very unhealthy obsession with bad music, like Rush! GAHHHH!A Thing of Eternity wrote:I'm curious to see if there is any commonalities between Dune fans and Music.

The Beatles, Beethoven, Bob Marley, Broken Social Scene, The Clash, Coldplay,The Doors, Elliott Smith, Feist, Frederick Chopin, Green Day, Guns n' Roses, Holst, Janis Joplin, Jay Z, Jeehun Hwang, Jimmy Hendrix, Johnny Cash, John Coltrane, John Williams, Kelly Bailey, Koh Otani, Led Zeppelin, Leftfield, Massive Attack, Metallica, Miles Davis, Mozart, Oasis, The Police, Soundgarden, Radiohead, Rage Against The Machine, Rammstein, Ray Charles, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Roots, Sterephonics, The Tea Party, The Tragically Hip, U2, Wagner, The White Stripes, Yoko Kanno.

Well, at least we can agree on your list of bands, except for Jay Z (I don't like ego/bling hip-hop, but I don't mind the political/social stuff) Greenday (opposite, since their political stuff is so shallow I actually prefer the songs they wrote about nothing) and the White Stripes (do I really need to explain why I don't like them?).GamePlayer wrote:There is no hope for youA Thing of Eternity wrote:Don't dis the Rush... if you can get used to Geddy's voice it's great stuff.
Noticed the Tragically Hip in there (whome I love), you from Canada?

Hey, Canada just bought some very nice antique subs from Britain, and I think they've even got them fixed up so they can go under water now! No seriously, we make fun of our troops but they're actually very well trained, just not so well equiped. I'd make some other comments but this isn't a political forum, I'd rather discuss Dune than politics here.
I'm assuming most of the people on this site are Yankees? (hey, you called us Canucks!)

Don't despair. Military budgets have been increasing dramatically with the last two Federal governments and all indications are it's going to increase even more significantly. There's calls for new white papers and several major materiel purchases on the way. We could be looking at a return to 50-60's era funding, which would be great.A Thing of Eternity wrote:Hey, Canada just bought some very nice antique subs from Britain, and I think they've even got them fixed up so they can go under water now! Our troops are some of the best in the world. As they say, the worlds greatest army is British officers commanding Canadian soldiers armed with American Equipment
