Poling the sand: what to expect in Paul of Dune

I went through last night and found all the references to PoD content from the various blahgs and files on Dune Novels and collected them into a single text file. (Turned up two old references from the abortive email exchanges with Kevin, too. ;) )

Over the weekend, I hope to go through and summarize the details; will post it here when finished, if there's interest.

I figure it'll be less of a shock and outrage if we know what's coming. :D

Edit:

Posting what I've got so far (14:47 4/8/07 JST) at the current end of the thread. (LINK)

Didn't the autho(r) just finish poling the fans up in Toronto? :)

Not sure what Ole Kevvy got it up to up there in "T-Dot", but Becca was along, so maybe they double-teamed it?

I noticed that TAZ had logged on on MySpace within the last 24 hrs. Doesn't guarantee he can still walk, though. ;)

I'd be interested in reading what you've uncovered. It’s always better to know what you’re up against. Cheers for taking the time but always remember there's some shit you can't unsee. :)

The best form of defence is attack.

I think the name of the series, Heroes of Dune, says volumes about the matter.

Really, could they possibly do any more damage to the series? Isn't it already fucked up beyond recognition already?

Heroes of Spice and Wierding(HoSW), the brand new game in the HoMM series, based on the award winning, best-selling, Politzer, Nobel, Hugo and Nebula winning sixtology Paul of Dune.
Coming to your local gaming shop spring 2009! :D

I'm surprised they haven't whored it yet for another unrelated game that happens to carry "Dune" in the title.

Oh, just wait until the movie...

My mistake, you're right, they need a big hype from the movie to launch any games in the planning.

Hopefully they won't get that...I think...argh, I'm torn! A new Dune game would actually be welcomed, the last has been out for 4-5 years now(that failed MMO I think), or 7-8 years if we count a successful Dune game(Emperor: Battle for dune).

If they do a Dune game I wouldn't put it past them to make it based on their shit, as it's much closer to the average sci-fi game world, especially the BJ crapology.

Journey with Jessica as she takes young Paul back to his christening planet of Caladan. You'll have to use all of her Bene Gesserit skills (invisibility, mind explosions, etc.) to make it back safely.

Does she have magic missile? :P Lightning I think they've got...or was it just in the BJ if at all?

Magic missile? I'm attacking the darkness!

I wouldn't mind playing a new Dune game. It could go against the movie-to-game stereotype of being awful, but I think we all know that that won't be the case since P&B will undoubtedly be involved b/c of their input on the movie.

Or... the game could be better than the movie

I just hope KJA will pull his $cientology strings and get Tom Cruise to play Paul, Travolta to play Halleck or Stilgar and Jena Elfman(sp?) to play Jessica...I know she's blond and Jessica isn't(and no one ever heard of hair color, i.e blond miniseries Paul) but that won't stop them.

Gee, orald, I don't know.... I find the image of Kevin pulling something string-like very disturbing.... :(

Light brown, some would call it blond. Actually, while I would call it "light brown" I know people who'd call such a shade blond- blond isn't just straw-like or what those porn stars have.

Clint Eastwood is nicknamed Blondy in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, and he's got even darker hair than Paul there.

well what people call something and reality are 2 different things...maybe pauls hair is sandy... but its brown ....people call dave mustaines hair strawberry blond...guess what...its red .........why is there all these names for hair colors?..are we all gay ( seinfeld..not that theres anything wrong with that) ....how about dark brown or light brown .... blonde is blonde..if it has a hint of anything else in it..then the hair is that color .... blonde with a shade of brown..is brown hair.....strawberry blonde is red hair .... this argument is starting to sound like womans magazine bullshit
