Hello all!!
I've lurked on various Dune boards for years and this is the first I've chosen to sign up on. Seems like darn good board and I'm looking forward to getting to know you guys.
I started reading Dune right after the House prequel trilogy was completed. It was recommended that I start with the House books. I was about 13 or 14 years old. So I read those and thought "meh." They were ok but not that great. I almost didnt continue reading the series until I was told how much better the original series was. I gave them a shot and fell in love. Couldn't believe the difference in quality. People weren't lying when call this series classic.
Now I'm not the type of guy re-reads books that often, but I've come back to dune about 3 times. For me thats A LOT. That's just how great the series is. When I think I've got everything down, I notice something new everytime I start over. My favorite novel in the series is Dune followed very very closely by Heretics.
More about myself: I'm a very left-leaning and open-minded catholic. I was educated by jesuits who love to question doctrine, so don't lump into the same category as a lot of these uneducated, bigoted, evangelical, twits stuck in the dark ages. I've spent 6 years addicted to heroin and suboxone, and am tapering off the subs now. Which is why I started reading the series again actually. Keeps my mind off the W/D's like nothing else
Happy to be here guys!!
