I had never read that interview that Kev gave in 2008. Too bad, I may have been freed from his bondage 3 years early. I don't remember anyone at all bitching about Heretics of Dune when it came out. I think we were all surprised that Dune got wasted, but everybody thought the book was great. People really liked Miles Teg. It came out when the hype of the Dune movie was high. Kevin is lying about this, as well as other things.

Chapterhouse was confusing because the dust jacket summary of the Honored Matres, when it came out, did not match the Honored Matres of the book. The dust jacket summary said something about the Honored Matres wanting to spread "love", when all they wanted to do was kill.

Well from a certain point of view it is Frank's fault.

Y'know, since Dune was so well written, its impossible for a shit-filled hack to even come close.

And I read this crap! I actually took the time to read this crap! In my defense, These two were the first and ONLY books I have read by these two. I had just finished Chapterhouse and wanted to know where they go from there.

God was I depressed when I finished this shit. Not because it was the end of the characters I loved, but because these two books just SUCKED!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't know there was a group for this sort of resentment. I thought I was alone in hating these books.
As I said in my intro, I read RTD so I could read some more of Frank Herbert's work....

I am a VERY lucky guy. Previously Laura wasn't much of a science fiction fan but just liked Dune. After she met me I have bombarded her with great science fictions novels. She has devoured books by Banks, Mieville, Niven, Pohl, Heinlein, reynolds et al. Her education is progressing very nicely.

you know, now that I think about it, I don't think a single person outside of the rebellion was actually sentenced to Hellhole in the books. Every single character other than the rebels went there voluntarily.

I can't read the interview. Call me newly, selectively illiterate.

But it did occur to me that the reason why hunters and sandsquirms were so long (and split into two paperbacks to be purchased separately) is because he takes 5 pages to do what FH does in a single paragraph.

I think I'm just afraid the interview will be too long.
