Hi -- I'm new
Hello everyone.
My name is Dravition, and I've been a Dune enthusiast for a couple of years now. I read up to "Chapterhouse: Dune", but I felt that I wasn't really understanding the books. So, I restarted the series and am currently finishing up "God Emperor of Dune". The significance of certain elements is starting to shine through, but I still feel I have much to learn.
Basically, I'm looking for a place to engage other inquiring minds regarding the Dune universe. I want to make the most of this deep connection I feel to the books, and I want to learn how to talk about them intelligently, so that I can share my enthusiasm with people who haven't read the series. Also, I've never been a member of a forum community, so I'm looking to learn the proper etiquette. Please feel free to instruct me if I'm doing something wrong, or could be doing something better. I don't like to think of myself as a conformist, but I would like to fit in

Leto smiled. "Duncan, have I not told you that when you think you know something, that is a most perfect barrier against learning?"

Paul of Dune was so bad it gave me a seizure that dislocated both of my shoulders and prolapsed my anus.

Welcome, this group of people expanded my own understanding of Dune easily tenfold when I first joined, so you're not alone. FH was a rare author in that he truely seemed to not care if people figured it all out, I think he just liked making people think. We've got people on here who've been reading the books over and over longer than I've been alive - and there's STILL plenty of stuff that isn't crystal clear.

^ True that. He does get vague in a very mystical way. That just makes the books even more worthwhile.
And welcome, I'm new too .
And welcome, I'm new too .
When Paul was three I found him wearing lingerie I was planning to wear for my Duke. I asked him: "How can this be?" and he answered: "For I am the Kwisatz Haderach!" I was proud since these were the first words Paul ever spoke, but now I knew for certain that my Paul was a special boy. I brought him to Duncan's room while he was busy "training" a young maidservant in the Art of Sword-Handling. My Paul shall be the best! - Tleszer

AToEs 'normal people' interpret a scifi movie.
Leto II is gone for good, except for OM. The "pearl" was just that; a miniscule portion of what Leto was, and not a compressed version of the whole. The pearl that the worms have do not make them Leto, or in any way similar to him.
