Aemon, or something like that. I wonder if they will discuss his being a "dragon".

Someone on another site pointed out that it was rather out of character to have Littlefinger basically discuss his entire plan in front of 2 whores he had just hired, one of whom was from the north and had arrived just that day.

It probably wouldn't make much sense to talk about Aemon being a "dragon" so early in the series. It would play better to have it mentioned early in one of the Storm of Swords seasons. Of course maybe it could be part of Dany's dream in that spooky house...

Oh yeah, it was totally out of character, not just because of who they were, but Littlefinger comes across to me as someone who has never confided his real plans to a single human being in his whole life. Oh well though, considering that was probably the biggest biff of the show so far we're doing pretty good, could be a lot worse!

I didn't find the lesbian scene gratuitous...but then only a monkey fucking a football while getting diddled by a dildo powered by a steam engine is gratuitous...

gra·tu·i·tous

adjective /grəˈt(y)o͞oitəs/

Uncalled for; lacking good reason; unwarranted
- gratuitous violence

Given or done free of charge
- solicitors provide a form of gratuitous legal advice

Lesbian sex scene
- I like that show for its depth, intrigue, and story, but I think its popular because of the gratuitous lesbian sex.

While out of character for Little Finger, I think the reason they did the scene the way they did was to make it clear that he is a double dealing conniving cunt. Having read the books, to us it looks way out of character for Little Finger to confide as he does to the two hoor's. However, somethings must be spelled out to the tv audience, not because they are dumb, but because there is just so much going on.

Take episode six. A lot of hardcore fans were bitching about the wat ned learned that Joffrey was born of an incestuous relationship between his mother and uncle. A lot of viewers had the same AH HA! moment as Ned did because of the way they chose to reveal the information.

Now if we can just get some shots of male cock to appease the Spartacus crowd, then you can toss around gratuitous ;)

:snooty:

one of the best parts of the books was when all the wtf omg did that just happen stuff happened. Like when [that character] got his throat slit by a shadow in front of everyone. Or like when [You know] gets his [part] cut off.

Its an element of surprise and confusion, and I want more shows, especially ones like this, to treat me like an adult with powers of observation and reasoning.

It was still a surprise when Littlefinger turned on Ned, but I think the why could have been done after, not before.

I too wish more shows did allow for more intelligence from the viewers.

We saw this in The Sixth Sense.

Sadly, the majority of executives are driven by fear, their notes and concerns are all driven not by what would make for a good story and tv but the fear that whatever tis being done will fail.

The sixth sense? Am I the only person who hated that movie because I watched it the whole time knowing Bruce Willis was dead only to find out that that was supposed to be the twist? And no, no one told me, HE DIES IN THE BEGINNING.

LOL, the great, great majority, did not, largely because they do not pay attention. What the Sixth Sense did well was it did not cheat, the clues were there to help people along.

I think the problem is most people do not want to do the work to be engaged, they want everything fed to them. Look at the popularity of the Transformers movies, nothing subtle with them.

So with all this talk of lesbian sex scenes and wormsign, I take it this is not a show for kids?

Its a show for adults, yes. Kids and people who watch reality TV should stay away.

Perverse? Shame?

Anyway, Episode 9 is out. Reactions? MAJOR SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK!!!

I felt like they didn't do enough to show everyone's reaction to Joff's "Mercy". Cersei didn't seem to react at all to what he was about to do until after he said it so it really looked like she was in on it all along. I really felt like they needed to have the High Septon in that scene to show his reaction. Varys running over to talk to Joff was just about the only thing that made it look like Joff didn't just make that decision on the spot.
It seemed like the way they filmed it made it look like Cersei and Joff had planned to execute him anyway. The fact in the books that Joff makes that decision on the fly in the face of everyone especially Cersei was a major point of contention surrounding his character, and specifically to his relationship with his mother. It sets the stage for what kind of king he will be.
