Another hello

Hey, I just registered today. Like so many others here I too got exposed to Dune in my early teenages. Actually it started with the Amiga game back in -92, which followed by the movie, and then I launched myself into the book itself. English is not my mother tongue and you can imagine that it was a pretty difficult read for a 12 year old in this situation, but I enjoyed whatever I could understand.
Years later I revisited Dune again and read the whole thing. Since then.. well, you've got another fanatic right here!
Regarding BH & KJA, yeah I read the prequels and the jihad stuff. It was a really stupid thing to do. I had to be taken into a hospital where they electro-treated and hypnotized me for 5 months straight before all traces inside my brain were wiped out. Today I am completely recovered I hope..

Well, not quite, I still remember bits of it. But like others I don't connect their books with the original at all - it's simply too different. An analogy is: I love bananas and eat it frequently. If I one day see a package saying "bananas" on it and take a bite, which turns out to be moldy pig ears instead, I wouldn't stop eating bananas because of that. I still remember chewing on that pig ear, but it won't distract me from still loving bananas.
Also, Dune Encyclopedia helps a lot too. We should be grateful that Dr. McNelly published it.
Thanks a lot for your welcome folks!

Welcome
Yarp - one of the few good things about McDune is that most of it is instantly forgettable.

It's still there, it's just diluted.

What hospital was that? I need to go and get it zapped out of me, as well.

It's the hospital of your mind.
Think about the treatment in Orwell's 1984: "How many fingers am I holding up?"
You see a cover which text is telling your mind it says "Dune", but I am saying it says "Star Wars". Whatever I say is the truth and reality. Everything else that your mind tries to tell you is wrong. Every time you utter the word "Dune" when reading off those BH/KJA covers give yourself an electric shock. You'll be cured in no time.
