Some of your fellow citizens would disagree about the absence of state-run.

I liked this comment best of all.
A great question. It is at the very least an 'unofficial' government controlled corporation - who rely on the 'goodwill' of the government to get this (highway robbery) licence fee money from the public.

When the BBC 'don't toe the party line' they are threatened with the ending of the licence fee - and this has happened lots of times in the past - and after that threat the BBC soon fall into line.

So the BBC is not supposed to be a state run corporation but we can 'all read' between the lines for the reasons you've stated......the public is not stupid - even if the government thinks we all are.!!!
The license is the government paycheck.

So you're still... and now to the tune of Big fucking Ben:

Ah. Now I see what's going on here. No need for further comment, really.

I guess I screwed up that title. I think I screwed up even further by posting a link to it in this thread which most people are now avoiding 8-)

Oh well, some people around here still read everything.

I know., and it was a good joke ... it just reminded me that I had used her for Halloween.

I really dug Billy Joel in the mid to late 70s ... that stuff is still very good; then, he got kinda weirded-out, but I've always wondered
if that wasn't due to being married to Christy .... I got the feeling that girl would've tried anybody's patience ...

and I'm back to liking Kojo again ... the back & forth bickering in this thread is the kinda of stuff I enjoy -
purposeful rude debate with just enough personal attacks to be interesting without getting out of hand is good ...

I particularly like that a lot of "dumbass" and "fuck yerself" was tossed about without anybody getting huffy and self-righteous
and posting some "Screw you guys, I'm goin' home" tirade ... good deal, stick to yer guns, call the other guy an asshat once in a
while, but don't loose sight of the facts of the matter - internet message board, not srs biznss, &etc.
