I used to scream the original version with my nephew who knew it by heart. I can't wait to read this with my own kid.

Thank you Nek, I have a couple of nephews who're going to love this!
After watching an edited version of the Dune remix last year they both keep saying 'box o pain' and 'welcome to Larrytown.' This'll be perfect!

Goodnight Golden Path. :D

wow this is awesome !

I want kids just to read them that story(then I'll sell them to Madonna lol)

I wonder what a kid who had this as a bedtime story would say and feel when reading Dune for the first time !

Not yet, a friend of mine just sent it to me. I'll see if I can find anything else. Looks like it was inspired by this: http://www.collegehumor.com/article:1811404" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I've taken some screen captures and am going to turn it into a video with iMovie and add some narration. I'll try to work on it tonight.

Do you think that Goodnight Spice Blows would make more sense than Goodnight Spice Flows?

Now there's an interesting question.
I'm willing to bet that some of the more scholarly types here could get a paper about that published!

I equated good-night-spice flows to sleepy sand from the sandman...My own first impression.
You rock on with whatever you feel!

edit; Odd that she didn't mention the spice candy on the table.

I finished the video with a couple minor changes. I emailed her and asked for permission to post it online, I'll let you know what happens.

I posted that out into the Twitterverse, to see what comes floating back.

So... this is a real book?

Are the money-grubbers at the HLP going to let this go unchallenged? Or did she get permission? :?

the fact that it doesn't suck donkey's balls is a good indicator the HLpiss has naught to do with it.

No mention of the HLP, and I don't think there's a paper copy anywhere. This would seem to fall under fair use anyway. If anyone would have a problem with it I would think that it would be the Goodnight Moon author, as it's much more derivative of that.

Looks like Byron blew his chance to write a kid's book. There was no chance in hell of that happening anyway, or of it being this good.

That makes you sad????

That confirms my suspicion that Byron is a lazy freeloader.

Sorry to say, but two little short stories in anthologies that sold, like, zero copies away from San Luis Obispo does not a writer make. That's not even enough to qualify for membership in the SFWA, which IIRC requires three published stories.

And this makes me even sadder...

Your literalitis has flared up again! :tissue2:

(I thought you promised you were going to take your drugs this time! )

Sadder? Again? Dude, does the term "par for the course" mean anything to you at all?

And I never got any drugs last time. What were they again? Maybe a little OTC lilac literalis?

There's always next time. Any other ideas out there for a Dune mashup? I was always fond of There's a Monster at the End of This Book.

Maybe Where the Wild Things Are?

I doubt that it's a mash up but I think that the instructor of boys could work.
Not sure how one would illustrate him making his own water.

I never thought about it before tonight but the only childrens books I remember are Uncle Remus, Uncle Wiggly, and a story about a lone guy who planted oak trees in a desert.

Sounds either depressing or sexy. I haven't decided yet.

As movie mashups go, there's great possibility with Dune and The Ghost And Mr. Chicken.
I'm thinking David Lynch images with Don Knotts and the rest of the gang doing the sound.
