The Master
I've never seen this picture of him before now... thanks to Joseph-Vintimille T. Askaris on Facebook.
Paul of Dune was so bad it gave me a seizure that dislocated both of my shoulders and prolapsed my anus.

Re: The Master
The combination of the high-and-tight flat-top, grizzly adams beard and birth control glasses make me want to drop to my knees and thank God he wasn't looking at me.

That's why it's called a soup strainer!Omphalos wrote:That is a cool look. Wonder how he ate soup with all that moustache hair?
cookie duster
lip sweater
flavor saver
etc. etc.
The worst food related time for my 'stache happened when it was new. I pushed a hamburger into my mouth not realising the right half of my moustache followed it in. I about pulled my face off when I bit down.
edit; He does look young. Does anyone else think he resembles the fellow from Mythbusters?
Leto II is gone for good, except for OM. The "pearl" was just that; a miniscule portion of what Leto was, and not a compressed version of the whole. The pearl that the worms have do not make them Leto, or in any way similar to him.

My guestimation would make him 45/46 assuming the award referred to in the photo was made in year following the publication of Dune.A Thing of Eternity wrote:I don't think I've seen him looking so young...

I guess the copyright on those two belong to Brian Herbert, so feel free to print up posters and t-shirts and
sell them at your local open-air markets, or on e-bay ...

I wonder if that first photo is of Frank winning the Hugo.
If so, it's be a great candidate for a "justice" motivator.

I'm still very proud of The Quarry but … let's face it; in the end the real best way to sign off would have been with a great big rollicking Culture novel.

Same here.
It seems like, over the years, the same two or three photos always accompanied any article by or about Frank Herbert, so I think many of us probably have the same mental picture of the man. It's interesting to discover these "other" photos.
