Requesting sage advice from the computer know-it-alls.

Okay my smarter-than-me, computer savy friends.... Here's my problem:

I've got a 16GB Micro SD (HC) memory card [made in Japan] (By-the-way, I have no clue what the HC stands for but it's on the card so I figured it might be needed info)

It was working fine Friday morning. I put it in my SanDisk Card Reader with the intention of taking it to the store to print some pictures from it, somewhere along the line I must have dropped it without realizing it and my brother-n-law found it under his carport (edge of driveway) either yesterday morning or Saturday evening.

The Card reader 'seems' to be okay, just scratched up a bit and the computer is recognizing it just fine; however, my cell phone says the SD card is "not mounted" and the computer will not acknowledge the card is even in the card reader.

Is there something I can do to 'mount' the card (watch the jokes guys) and/or at least retrieve the pictures and videos I have on the card?

Where I am at today, I do not have another adapter for the memory card (other than the SanDisk reader and my cell phone) so I cannot check to see if another adapter would allow the computer to detect the card. But there should be another adapter at my house that we use to use with the 1GB memory cards

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Certain droid phones, mounting and unmounting is a "soft" setting that you can change in the settings menu.

Trying to mount while soft is probably the problem.

Isn't that common sense, Freak?

How did I know that at least one of y'all would come up with a "mounting" joke?

And thanks Apjak. I gave the card to my oldest son, who had gotten off of work early, to see if he could do anything with it. (His phone is a Droid 2 while mine is a Droid) He knows more about this stuff than I do. He knows his phone better than I know mine. In fact he knows MY phone better than I.

Well it turns out he can't get the phone to even acknowledge the card. It's like it's not even there. He's taking it home to see if he can get it to work on the computer. I'm just afraid I've lost all my pictures. Luckily enough I transfered the pictures I took of Mahnmut during our visit, but all the other pics from the trip I had not transfer yet.

Every time I see the word "mount" I think of Burgess Meredith in Dirty Old Men. "Mount her, you fool, or I will!"

HC might mean something like "High Capacity", or it could be something super technical (Hypersaturated Chloriphlexofenringite).

No other advice except the kind you least want to hear: always back up to multiple locations and media ASAP. :(
