The "McDune sucks" sign is famous!

Post by TheDukester »

Well, it's on SciFi Wire. Which is now called Blastr. Which is stupid.

But, still ... it's a blog/newsfeed that's read by LOTS of people. It's about as mainstream as genre news can get.

(It's the fith picture, I think, if that link ends up loading picture #1)

Edit: Yes, it loads the correct picture. It just takes forever, even on a fast connection

Awesome! AND WHY DO I ALWAYS LOOK SO FAT IN PICTURES! I'm really not that flabby!

I actually considered dressing up as KJA but i couldn't find The Jacket. Another reason I hate his writing is that I look kinda like him at the right angle.

I didn't say I believed her! I look more like Russel Crowe anyway.

Still its amazing to see the reaction that the sign received. I figured I might get one or two people who even knew what it meant.

I wouldn't exactly call it viral. As long as KJA sees it on the blog I'll be happy.

Cool.

I am not familiar with the meaning of this. I'm aware of the show, just never watched it.

The character pictured always accepts bizarre challenges to pick up women and always succeeds at it.

"Ooh, I bet she likes it dirty."

I've never watched the show (the whole "time slip" angle sounded guaranteed to bore me to tears) but I picked up that line from the ads.

That's the Doogie Hauser guy, right?

Thank god someone is pointing out that there's a new generation of dimwads and that they are on a decently well looked at site.

You mean there isn't? :?

Shit... like I said, I've never watched it, just seen the ads for it, and the way they describe the scenario in Japanese is that this father is talking to his kids in like 2030 or something and slips back in time to the early 2000s. Is that not how it works? (You know how little I like time travel stuff in general, so that's all I had to hear to turn me off on it.)

Something was lost in translation, the whole show is just the father telling the story of his life to his kids in the timeframe leading up to meeting their mother.

Figures.

Fox Japan seems to be behind a lot of the programming on the Sky Perfect satellite service and if they're not buying one-season blunders (Odyssey 5! Lion's Den! Flash Failward!) on the cheap, they're retitling and rebroadcasting stuff they showed years ago. And misrepresenting the rest.

The only reason I stay with them is the Japanese terrestrial stuff is so dismally shite.

Is the show any good, then?

Right... at occasional scenes, you hear his voiceover narration. Think the Wonder Years.

And it's quite hilarious.

It has a certain charm, the acting is terrible, though this seems to be for some reason deliberate, as I know I've seen some of those actors actually act before.

Frankly, when you have ingenious scenes like this, "acting" doesn't matter squat.
