BTW How did the Big Famine, that lead to the Scattering, happened in Dune?

Because the famine wasn't a shortage of food, but of the Spice.

What does that have to do with this? If major economies collapse, then yes, many/most/whatever people on this planet will die - but not all. Bloody hell, some of us are capable of living off the land.

BTW, that didn't lead to The Scattering. The invention of the INM along with the supression of space travel for millenia did that.

The Famine Times occurred simultaneously.

If before that the government didn't take your guns, then you would be able to defend your property and land from the hungry masses. But when you ran out of ammo, what then?

What are you talking about? First off, I don't have any guns to take. Second off - yes a lot of people would die to raiding and general violence - but how would this lead to extinction? It wouldn't. You seriously think that just because all the economies collapse, everyone is just going to neatly line up to shoot eachother, and then the last person in the world will say "oops"?

There would be a lot of violence, and probably 70% - 90% of humans would die in the first year, but we'd still have millions and millions, and hundreds of millions of people left. A lot of those people would form decent little towns and societies within a week of disaster hitting, and then those would build and build and build.

The human race would be FINE. I don't see ANY reason to think otherwise.
