I'm not sure when the change was made, but Amazon UK is now giving "2 Feb 2012" as the date for the release of SHITTERHOOD OF DUNE by Slimon & Scheister.

(It must have been a mistake from the start, right? I mean, my recent post about grabbing a UK copy in September and spoiling the fuck out of it in the four or five months before the US release... NAH! :hand: :naughty: )

Still no page on US Amazon.

SO THAT REALLY DOES MEAN NO McDUNE IN 2011!!!

Well, the people concerned at both ROT/Gorge and Slimon & Scheister are complete fucking idiots if they're not watching Anderson & Herbert and how they're approaching this next book & series. Anderson is like a lab rat with electrodes buried in his sex center: you know he wasn't going to quit pushing that Heroes button until he and Dune dropped over dead. So that means the publishers killed the juice, not him & Bobo jonesin' to get their post-Legends groove on. And from what we've seen thus far nothing whatsoever has changed: Hack & Bobes (supposedly) brainstormed and shot their creative juices like a pair of premature ejaculator mink with Anderson (and, evidently BoBo, too) working on other projects at the same time. Now Anderson is posting little tidbits to make it look like the process is still ongoing, but from what he's posted before I think we can safely say that the Prose is Polished and the thing pretty much done. (And even if it gets sent back for major revisions once HE SUBMITS the final manuscript, we'll never hear anything about it. Unless he gets so pissed off at the affront of having a MERE copy-editor DARE to suggest his work needs improvement that he slips and bitches about it on Twitter.)

The "writers" and the completely useless/impotent HLP aren't going to stop this stupidity, so it looks like we're going to have to look to the publishers to stop it. And the only way that will happen is if the books continue to fail in the marketplace.

Pall of Dumb did badly, Jessica's Winds of Doom did even worse. Will there still be enough dedicated fanboys left to revive McDune with sales of Shitterhood?

Let's hope not.

[Edit: added the missing, underlined what.]

At this point I'm hoping to see "Cancelled" pop up concerning this project. And then a week later, it comes out from a hastily assembled self-publisher called "KJAdventure!" and the pages just fly out of the binding because they cheaped on the glue and used bubblegum instead. Oh yes, and you'll be able to see Jabecca's Cheato-covered fingerprints on each page because she did the assembling. :)

Nah, they'll end up publishing on the Kindle and other e-book devices, wait and see.

And KJA will spin it as being "in the vanguard of technological development ... as befits a best-selling SCIENCE-FICTION writer"!

The best fiction being that he's a writer! :P

Absolutely inspired! Well done Chig!
Leto II is gone for good, except for OM. The "pearl" was just that; a miniscule portion of what Leto was, and not a compressed version of the whole. The pearl that the worms have do not make them Leto, or in any way similar to him.

What a shock, Dozer and Jabs have lunch with the Doherty's - and immediately announce a change for the forthcoming McDune - like that's never happened before

Unfortunately the abomination is still being published, but it's name has changed. No longer The Sisterhood of Dune, now it's merely Sisterhood of Dune. The excised The makes all the difference, no?

I'm just wondering how they are going to implement the whole 'shaved head' thing.

Oh and from the blag there was this gem:
I’m doing a last fine polish to the manuscript of my humorous zombie detective novel (an on-spec book)
Why would he mention it was on-spec? Why has it taken him this long to jump on the whole necrophilia craze? Why do I keep asking these questions when the answer is probably designed to kill brain cells....

I like how Keith also tries to pass it off as being a decision from he and Bobo. "We decided ..."

Um, no. Publishers have always reserved the right to do what they wish with titles. It's pretty obvious that edict came down from Tommy D. the Tor Guy.

I'm sure Spanky seethed. Bobo probably just drooled.

Now that sales are lagging for Hellhole maybe we'll see some kind of tie-in to the Dune Universe.
