well he's been the best commentator to this world cup imo.

And Spain won?
I guess the Spanish will still be celebrating when I fly back home next month(they probably won't have slept either yet)
(home in France is less than an hour from Spain so it should be fun!)

I’ve hoped for Spain to win through the entire world cup -but I actually didn’t think they’ld pull it off. I’m still wearing my Iniesta shirt today though – VIVA ESPAÑA!!

On a side note – I’m pissed that the Netherlands didn’t play football – they were destructive and brutal! Nigel De Jong should have had the red card for stamping Alonso in the chest, and there were some other episodes where a red card should have been given. And yes, as the game progressed Spain should have had some cards as well (Puyol and Iniesta) – but the Netherlands were lucky only to get one of their players send of the pitch. Robben could easely have had a yellow more when he shoots after his offside! Guess the ref (horrible ref) was compensating. I’m just pissed – as I think the Netherlands could have played WAY better and fair – and we would have had a glorious final.

Sorry dutch people – it’s not personally, I’m just REALLY annoyed!

Have to say that the quality of football this time around has generally been pretty poor. Glad Spain won, their passing game
has been fantastic throughout although I felt they lacked imagination in front of goal. Any other World cup I would have rooted for
Holland (I grew up watching their great teams in 74/78 losing two finals whilst being arguably the best) but thought their tactics
in the final were definitely anti-football and they got their just reward. Pretty sore losers too. I reckon that Germany probably
played the best, most attractive football throughout and It was just a pity that they had to meet Spain in the semis.
Ah well, There can be only one.

Well the Netherlands lost the final. I acknowledge that they played badly but even if they stuck to their previous strategy that got them to the final, they would not have beaten Spain. After all, Spain beat the German machine that scored four goals against both England and Argentina.

Better luck next year with the woman's world cup. In that tournament the teams to look out for are the United States and Germany, both two time winners.

Sweden managed to beat the US in the playoffs, and now today ended up with bronze. Not too bad, not too bad.

Looks like its gonna go to a penalty shoot-out. This is the only Women's World Cup match I've watched; it ain't bad. The 2010 Mens, though, I watched every match...the ratio of interest isn't quite down at the WNBA to NBA level for me, but still, this is one of the few times I've watched women's football. Or maybe not!!!! USA just scored in the 117th minute!!!

True, it ain't. USA wins!!!...and probably no one will care too much.

As for the Men's World Cup 2014 in Brazil, the current FIFA world rankings are here:

http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/ranki ... 0&rank=205" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Next rankings are out the 27th of July, and will be important for preliminary qualifying decisions for 2014...As for these rankings, there are a few shockers...England fourth and above Brazil at five!? Seriously!? Brazil didn't exactly perform up to expectations in 2010, but England, while a good team, is definitely not top five material. Brazil is better, Uruguay is probably better, Portugal as well.

I posted that after Japan tied the game up for a second time. It was very exciting there towards the end. Who won? What!?

Yeah, you're probably right. I wouldn't even have watched the game, except that I happened to chance upon it. I was reading A Dance With Dragons, and now I'll get back to that.
One more thing... I wish the ladies had exchanged jerseys at the end of the game.

Wow, I spoke too soon....I thought with that little time left, the US was guaranteed a win....but Japan actually won, Jeezzzusss! Definitely an exciting finish though.
