While I'm thinking about philanthropy : fuck Bill Gates.

Instead of tossing all that money at problems in the Third World that
are rightly the domain of the WHO, how about lowering the prices for
all that bullshit software you're making me buy ? $500 dollars for the
new Office package ? Fuck you, Bill. If you want to buy good
PR and the goodwill of your neighbors, quit fucking them.

I think it takes about 2 seconds of watching FOX to get the impression that that is what is meant by redistribution of wealth vis a vis Obama's economic plan.

Sadly, that is FOX news, which is destroying this country by telling people its okay to be a mindless idiot as long as you agree with God guns and "C'ntry".

Look at it this way, Freak you work your butt off to put food on the table and have a bit to put away for retirement. I'd say roughly 60%-80% of your income is recirculated into the economy yes? meaning you only keep about 20-30% for your savings that is yours alone.
Except for the 2% of my pay that goes into my 401K I have NOTHING.

I have just enough to pay my bills.
the more money you make, the more you put into savings, which most savings and investments are tax free (if you know where to put them). For all intense purposes that wealth no longer benefits the economy it benefits you. Now its totally reasonable and expected for Freak to have some money saved up for retirement and emergencies, we all do (or should)

Now imagine you have millions, maybe even a billion dollars that is benefiting you alone and taken out of the economy proper. That's a billion dollars that isn't being circulated to Freak, the waiter, or the bum through proper economic channels.
If I earned the money it should be up to me if I want to save it, burn it, or line my bird cage with it. It is not Obama's money.
Obama isn't after your measly 20-30% savings. He wants to increase the amount you can spend in the economy and increase the value of your income while making your savings more valuable.
And how is he going to do that? By raising taxes and increasing spending?

He wants to scrape the cream off the top earners so he can cut taxes on the middle class.
Where does he get the right to do that? Besides, after tax returns, I don't pay income tax. How do you cut that?

This is why Obama's statement that he's going to give tax cuts to 95% of Americans is utter bullshit. Only like 40% actually pay taxes. To get that number up to 95% you would have to give people money.
That's creation of wealth, not redistribution of wealth.
That's called WELFARE.
conservative fiscal policy should look like this:
You should have told the waiter that you wanted the homeless guy outside to serve you, then given the homeless guy the 3 bucks.
Gross.
Then offered to buy his sign for 3 more bucks, and given it to a faith based charity who will donate it to the Waiter.
How about I just keep my three bucks?

I say we pull out all our troops wherever they are in the world...

Along with the billions we spend in foriegn aid.

Nobody appreciates it anyway.

It's a thankless job :)

I'm actually all for scaling back of foreign aid. The whole system needs to be critically analyzed and reformed into a more manageable process where "effectiveness" is the determining factor in all cases. We've been aiding some countries for decades now to no avail. If millions are spent but nothing changes, how can these funds be called "aid"?

Or Starbuck... But I gotta say that show makes little sense when you look at all the seasons as a whole. Like, what the hell was this cylon plan? Who's behind it? Clearly not any of the cylons, so who then? God? Probably...

And you're supporting McCain? He's still trying to convince everyone that the US can "win" this war... McCain would continue to treat the middle east as the US military playground for as long as possible. Pulling out is the last thing he'd do.

it's just like Lost; there is/was no overall plan -
the plot went from one weekly script-writing meeting to the next ....

anyway, there's NO WAY it's Starbuck ...
that old chain-smoking Doctor, tho ....

I don't think he'd cut off all foriegn aid either.

Do you agree with every single policy of Obama's?

We don't have to be just another mindless sheep following the herd.

They're both backstabbing weasels, like most politicians. As with most elections, I'm of the opinion the trick is to pick the lesser of two evils. This election, I've decided to leave my future in the hands of fate at the voting boths--I'm gonna flip a coin

I saw that. I had a big response typed up but then I saw you'd put something about your comments not being targeted at anyone in particular so I decided to let it go and hit delete!

:D
I'd rather use a role-playing die, so I can include all the obscure parties such as the Communists, Marxist-Leninists, Christian party, and even the Marijuana party.

The candidates are going to be interviewed durring halftime on Monday Night Football.

The game will be between the Washington Redskins and the Pittsburg Steelers and will be the first time in 24 years Washington DC has hosted a game the night before an election. The last time the Redskins beat the Atlanta Falcons 27-14. Ronald Reagan was re-elected the following day. :D

The Redskins are my team. I rememer watching that game. My parents went out to vote while it was on. My brother begged them to vote for Carter, and I begged them to vote for Reagan. I think right after the game Carter conceeded.

Well, I'm just getting up over here and I'm SO glad I was asleep for most of this! :P

(And no, I'm not going back and reading any of it.)

Wolf Blitzen (Blitzer? No, that's the reindeer, right?) on CNN showed some opinion poll results for Ohio a little while ago. In third place with 3% (above Barr in fourth) was...RALPH NADER!

And I realized with a pleasant twinge of surprise that Nader's name wasn't anywhere on my absentee ballot.

Little things like this seem to hint that there is hope for the world. :D

(As you were. ;) )
