Sounds good and they need Luc Besson to produce since The Fifth Element was similar to Dune.

Well both Fifth Element and Dune deal with deserts, Sci-fi fantasy, Zorg is like the Baron, Leeloo is like a female version of Paul of being a perfect being who will become a savior, Korben is like a male version of Chani and that weird Sci-fi fantasy feel about prophecies.

Hmm... I never noticed those connections. I thought it was a great special effects/action movie but the story didn't have anywhere near the depth of Dune.

Okay, gotta tell you ... not trying to pick on the new guy or anything ... but I don't see any of that. Sorry.

And I like The Fifth Element, too. Seen it more than once ... without ever thinking, "This is like Dune!" I'm just not seeing it.

Beginning and end climax take place in Egypt, right?

The rest is New York City and a luxury liner in outer space, maybe some odd other planets? (It's been a while since I've seen it all the way through.)

And there's nothing about Paul being "perfect", is there? At least not in the sense that Leeloo is supposed to be.

Also, NO benevolent/protective master aliens in Dune. NO intelligent aliens at all, as a matter of fact, even singing opera. ;)

Put down the crack pipe. The Fifth Element was Besson's tak film of the old Metal Hurlant, Heavy Metal in the states, science fiction stories. Any similarity to Dune would be pure coincidence.
