Salve!

Post by Slugger »

After much lurking, and deliberation, I finally decided to join this wonderful forum. My story is pretty much like everyone else's: I discovered Dune in 6th grade, fell in love with it, voraciously read the other books. I thought "Chapterhouse" was the end, until a clerk at Borders introduced me to the House series. I wasted my money on those, followed with Legends, then that mess masquerading as "Dune 7". Besides the original, "Chapterhouse" is my favorite.

I'm not a Dune expert (and I don't pretend to be like those two stooges), but I feel confident that I know more about The Canon than those hacks-posing-as-writers do.

Here's to looking forward to sharing discussions with intelligent people who seem to have a clue about what Frank wrote! :)

Every time I see Salve!, I flash back to HBO's Rome.

"Salve, Lucius Vorenus!"

I should probably stop re-watching the DVDs now ...

The cure is always to think of another addictive, catchy song, but make sure it's a song you like.

greetings Salve.

hey do you remember if the guild crashed a highliner on chapter house in the original franks herbert books?
it is a current topic of debate around these parts.
That's how I wrote the novel, wanting you to participate with the best of your own imagination. I did not aim for the lowest common denominator and 'write down" to anyone. You and I have a compact and my responsibility is to entertain you as richly as possible, always giving you as much extra as I can. I assume you are intelligent and will enlist your own imagination. You'll see that when you read the Dune excerpt and the other stories in this collection.

Who's debating? It never happened.
